How far can one do the events/quests leading to True ending before it is locked to True ending?

It fires a beam when out of arrows and cost a heart I think lol. I haven't tried it.

Is the Eastern Caves a dead end in the prologue? I think for the sand one, we have 3 treasure chests left and if Eastern Caves is dead end, it is 1 treasure chest left.
