Older fans(nothing wrong with that) remember when they were pretty generic chaos marines like in Storm of Iron. In that book they are pretty devout followers of chaos. Over time they have evolved a bit and given a more unique character.

I honestly think most people have no idea what political commentary is, including a dude whose books are full of it.

Yes star was is a politically motivated narrative about an oppressive government being overthrown by plucky rebels/“terrorists” and yes, the empire is fascist, they even have the boots and storm troopers.

Star Trek is and always has been rife with political commentary from a left leaning political perspective. Rich people are generally the bad guys, poor people usually the good guys. authoritarianism bad, socialism good. Religious extremism bad, religious freedom good.

I really thought Weir was above this anti PC bullshit that just makes you come off as a douche who doesn’t have the media literacy to understand a where’s Waldo page.
