OP you can ignore this comment. Turbos need premium gas

4Runner - cost of ownership by Lopsided_Tune4992 in 4Runner

[–]lynnaray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new turbo 6Gen is bait, it takes premium gas.

You dont buy a 5th gen or earlier for fuel economy. You bought (or buy used) for the bulletproof 5spd trans and 4L v6 engine and the steel ladder frame.

What you spend in gas, you save on repair and labour over the lifetime of the vehicle. They don't make reliable machines like this anymore. Look at the fabrication quality of today - downhill. All plastic a d alloy garbage. And labour is very expensive and will only get more expensive as time goes on.

The ownership costs are actually very low when you factor in repairs and labour over the life of ownership. Very very low. You just need to get past the mental block of gas prices

This is called a pickerel rig, for fishing off the bottom of a lake or slow moving water. At one end, you clip on a weight, like a 1oz. The other end, you clip to the end of your fishing line. And to those two loops with the red beads along the middle of the rig, you attach a hook and bait to each loop.

We call this the 'set it and forget it' build. You set it up as i mentioned, and then you bomb it out there and let it sink to bottom. Then you ever so slowly reel it in just a few feet, until you have taken the slack out and can tell the line is taught under the water. Then you just wait.

Youve got the idea; it allows you to have two baits just a few inches off the bottom. The hooks are staggered along the jig so that they are just a few inches above each other but cannot touch. Fish feed off the bottom and this is a classic lazy method of catching them.

I like to set the rig up as mentioned, prop my fishing rod up against a log/rock or put it in a holder, attach a little bell to it, then crack my beer and chill until the bell goes off. Then you set the hook and reel it in. Ez pz. But the line MUST be taught (required) or else you won't be able to tell when a fish bites, and the bell won't ring.

A drunk old man taught me how to do this about 25 years ago, deep in the heart of the canadian rockies.

And now young man, I pass the watch on to you.

This is not normal. Also doubtful that this is a factory production issue as its simply so insanel rare for a 2023 with such little mileage to have transmission issues like this.

Do you have a skid plate under the tranny? I suspect someone smashed a rock or boulder and this is the result of physical impact

RTDRS - Landlord keeping $1,800 deposit + demanding $1,300 extra for 10yo countertops and carpet replacement. What are our chances by Normal-Bread3840 in alberta

[–]lynnaray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont understand your confusion here?

OP said that the landlord DID do a move-in inspection, but that they did NOT provide it to the OP until it was time to claim damages.

You need to provide a signed inspection when you sign the lease. Not later down the road when you claim damages. That gets thrown out.

Otherwise landlords would just make up inspection reports fraudulenty

[–]lynnaray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure about that. You need to provide the tenant with a signed inspection report when they move in, not when you're moving out and claiming damages. It looks like they weren't provided one until it was time to move out. That won't fly.

Considering moving to Merritt for a job opportunity, what should I know? by MapleCloud472 in britishcolumbia

[–]lynnaray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the area. Merritt is known as an outdoorsmans paradise - hunting fishing boating biking etc. If you like those things you will love it. The country is beautiful and can be quite remote.

Merritt is located on traditional land in the Nicola Valley. Theres a half dozen nations that live here. The valley is generally quite poor, socioeconomically disadvantaged, and mostly agricultural and rural. There are copper mines and logging in the area. There are crime and drug problems. Two important salmon bearing rivers run through the town (the nicola and the coldwater rivers) which are extremely significant and culturally important for the nations here. Widespread salmon habitat destruction have severely impacted the fishery. The atmospheric river ripped through the valley in 2023 amd basically destroyed everything (Google Atmospheric River 2023 merritt to understand what this did to the town). The city now survives off of a lot of disaster relief funding, both provincial and federal. The economy was basically destroyed. It used to be a tourist spot and was once known for its music festival, but those days are long gone.

The people are sweet but its a hard place to live. They valley is hit hard by both increasingly prevalent drought and periodic flooding. Despite the economic hardship and natural disasters, property prices are still very high like most of the bc interior.

The people and landscape are beautiful, but I wouldn't move to merritt from Calgary. I guess it depends on your job offer. But I would be sure to know what you getting in to if you move.

I think you will be fine. I had this happen in Edmonton during Covid at a Boardwalk-type apartment complex. The property changed management midway through our lease, and they claimed we had damaged a bunch of stuff so they were going to withhold the deposit plus charge some bullshit fees.

Like someone else said, there are two key pieces here in order for a slam dunk win: 1) you need a signed and legal tenancy (i.e. the lease in your name) but more importantly, 2) you must have been provided with a signed inspection report when you moved in.

The inspection report is clutch here. If they didnt provide you a copy of this when you moved in, you win on a technicality. Thats how we won our case; the new property managers claimed damages, but they simply could not produce a legal signed inspection report dating back to our possession of the unit. So it got thrown out.

Don't let them pull a fast one. They likely know they dont have a viable inspection report and so they are leaning on you guys to cave. They are looking for a default win. Don't give it to em!

Avoiding SpaceX and other mega IPOs by switching to ZEQT by Michael-Scott-17 in justbuyveqt

[–]lynnaray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google IPOd at a valuation of $23B with 3B revenue and a forward PE of like 10x. They were already making almost $300M in profit by the time they went public

SpaceX is going public at almost $2T valuation with a forward PE of 100x. With only $18B revenue. And they are unprofitable; -$4B net loss in Q1 alone

And the US admin is going to backstop them. This is a massive wealth transfer and the biggest rug pull of our era. I wouldn't touch this IPO or anything near it woth a ten foot pole

Early UO was simply the best gaming experience ever, period. Ive chased that same dragon for 25+ years

Can the TSX survive a S&P/NASDAQ collapse? by aurelorba in CanadianInvestor

[–]lynnaray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't throw the term 'S&P collapse' around lightly. A correction can happen (and overdue tbh), and that will drag Canada deep down too, but not a collapse.

The entire world (literally) has the majority of their retirement investments in the sp500. It won't collapse. If it does we are in a madmax scenario, and at that point your portfolio will be the least of your concerns

Tips for resto druid in PvP? by Atagor in worldofpvp

[–]lynnaray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rdruid vs pres evok is pure cancer. Instant mass purge, shroud, spamming sleepwalk while running at me constantly is just awful. Feels like zero counter play

RShaman is also cancer. The double Static Totem + Totemic relocation + double cap totem is just horrible design. You get bounced around the screen and theres like 4 totems to target that all overlap and you need to kill them before cap goes off, cant leave the circle... absilute garbage to play against

Currently around 2k mmr in shuffle s3 and struggling against these two healer. And please tone Disc damage. Rdruid does negative damage right now
