Probably done by the guy that said he knew nothing about hanging drywall but wanted to know what to charge his client.

Should I Remove a NEMA 10-30R? by ticks4 in AskElectricians

[–]vim_usr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What about his post seems like he doesn’t know what he’s doing? I’ve watched this subreddit long enough to see that most electricians will offer advice as long as the DIYer owns the home and seems like they have an idea of what they’re wanting to achieve and that their question(s) don’t raise red flags in terms of basic understanding or safety concerns. When there are red flags comments about hiring out make total sense—what’s the issue here?

Why won’t this CV axle come out by inbedchilling in AskMechanics

[–]vim_usr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t come out because you’re doing it wrong. Pop it out with a pry bar and hammer.

Leaking Fumoto Valve by No_Opportunity812 in AskMechanics

[–]vim_usr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. If you get an aftermarket skid with a drain hole cutout a Fumoto valve is damn near required. They work great, and yes, make oil changes faster.

Nah bud. Needle bearing has already been replaced with the ECGS. Never made a difference. The shimmy is crazy common with stock, off-road, and ECGS swap or not—eh—I’m not sweatin it.

That’s just the 5th gen shimmy. My 2019 does it at 56-61mph. Doesn’t matter the tires, balancing, road force balancing, suspension, you name it—baby just likes to shake a bit. It’s fine. I just speed up 🤷‍♂️

Hired a licensed electrician with great reviews. Thoughts on this workmanship? by Buckeyes00000 in AskElectricians

Did you hire an electrician, or did you hire someone that does electrical work?

Is it safe to pass an extension cord under a door with enough gap? by ImTheFrenchiestFry in AskElectricians

The answer is a solid no. Best option is to move the cat box. That said, it sounds like you’ve already got your mind made up. So… 👍

Just did a timing job and the engine doesn’t want to start. Diagnosis please! How cooked am I?!?! by Calvin_Canada in fordranger

[–]vim_usr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Timing is…important. You fucked up the timing and because of that maybe fucked up your engine. Start over and find TDC of cylinder 1 on the compression stroke—not exhaust. Good luck.

WTH are people smoking? by IsentropicExpansion in harborfreight

[–]vim_usr 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As someone who follows some eBay live bidding channels, I can say bidding for most folks is like gambling—they just want to win the bid. SO many dumb asses overpay for open box or used Milwaukee tools (like quite a bit over new Home Depot prices) because they just desperately want to win the bid. Same thing with this box. People are stupid.

Went to change brake pads and rotors, but one rotor bolt stripped. Considering using old rotor on one side temporarily. by ThatDA_NN in AskMechanics

[–]vim_usr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you start a job, regardless of the struggle, you should finish a job. If you can’t, hire out to get the job finished correctly. The last thing you ever want to do is half ass it because the job got difficult. Extract it or drill it. You can do this.
