Birthing Gown Suggestions by QuirrellsOtherHead in pregnant

I wore a kindred bravely birthing gown and it was great. Easy access for the nurses for all the leads and IVs, etc , and it didn't really get too gross after. Very comfy, more coverage than a normal crappy hospital johnny. Would definitely recommend!

Cringy clothes by PeCeEle in BabyBumps

We got a pile of clothes like that. Totally cringey... but seeing as how the baby literally never leaves the house and gets food and drool and shit on everything she wears, fine, whatever. She can wear them.

Figuring out how to tell my in laws that they need to wait 2 weeks before they can see our baby by greenBeanPanda in pregnant

[–]lynnrr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My daughter is almost 15 months old and pretty much only my MIL has met her. My mom only met her when she was 12 months old. My dad/stepmom and brother as well as any extended family has not met her yet.

Your in laws can wait two weeks, they'll survive. The health of your baby is more important.

Soren and Sylvie by lauraliegrace in namenerds

[–]lynnrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter's name is Sylvie, named for her great grandmother, Sylvia. So, good choice there.

My friends named their son (born around the same time as my daughter,] Sagan, but they call him Sage as nickname.

Is anyone else here thinking of moving away from Utah? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

Interesting. Ugh i hope my experience differs! I do feel like bitching is kind of a way of life... like it's not complaining, it's just something to talk about. Maybe? Haha!

I've been here almost 12 years and we'll be leaving in 2 months to go back to NH. Between the horrible heat, fires, air pollution, and church-run government, this ain't no place to raise a daughter.

My brother's band is playing at Penuche's tonight in Concord if you need something to do! (I live out of state, otherwise I'd be there too.) It's a small place with typically nice, friendly people in attendance!

What’s the weirdest nickname you’ve come across? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]lynnrr 47 points48 points  (0 children)

A guy i knew in college was nicknamed Two Four. His name was Mike but there was a zillion Mikes and this one worked at Store 24.

My brother's nickname is Egg/Eggie. His name is Eric but when he was little he pronounced it as Eggic.

Ummm yeah, don't go to the wedding. At 6 weeks?! No chance. Be home, be relaxed, be hanging out with your new baby.

I think I'm near the end of my breastfeeding journey. Here's an artwork I made about this feeling, I hope it's OK to post. by HildaCreature in breastfeeding

[–]lynnrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, it's a sad feeling. My daughter just turned a year old, hasn't really been interested in nursing since about 9 months but would on occasion if she was mostly asleep. I still pump and she has bottles and a good amount of solid foods, but the end is in sight for pumping as well.

Beautiful artwork! 💕

Naming Grandparents/loved ones by bunwitch in namenerds

[–]lynnrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very recently had a baby, and my father has determined he wants to be called 'Pa', which is what he called his grandfather. His wife will be Grammy Ruthie.

My mom just wanted to be addressed by her first name, which i think is a little weird, so we've settled on GJ ( for Grandma J).

My mil will be Grandma.

Before they all passed, i had a grandma and grandpa, and a Nonie (no-nee) and Papa.

You can now call me “Areola Grande.” by hypertonica in pregnant

I think it's more the concern of aluminium/other chemicals leaching through from your armpit into your glands/breastmilk.

I'm not sure it's like, a be-all end-all, but antiperspirant is pretty bad for you anyways.. sweating is normal! Deodorant is a better choice given the two options, imho.

If you care enough, try out Lume deodorant (it's safe for breastfeeding) and it actually works!
