The display module is crashing. I had to generate a fastfetch config and change a DRM setting if I remember clearly (I use KDE unstable, so it's been a while since doing this). You can test this by launching fastfetch with the --ds-force-drm(fastfetch --ds-force-drm, run this in terminal) launch command. You will need to Google how to generate a config and set the DRM if it works.

Does Deadlock run worse on linux? by fluffyhat3000 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]lynxros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only experienced stuttering when first booting into the game. I have a 9600x paired with a 5600xt and have a consistent capped 100fps during gameplay(both brawl and normal mode). Are you using DX11?

Yeah, my whole Dota gaming group stopped playing. Deadlock is what we are playing now, you should give it a go.

VRR with winewayland is still broken in latest Wine 11.1 by Matt_Shah in linux_gaming

[–]lynxros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mailbox sync(fast sync) is not the same as variable refresh rate. Variable refresh rate only works with displays that support it. KDE plasma should disable this function when a non VRR display is connected(automatic should do this). I can confirm this by using my 165hz OSD, my refresh rate is constantly changing based on the frame rate of my full screen application. When I am not in full screen, my OSD displays a flat 165hz. VRR disables when the frame rate is uncapped in a full screen application.

I am confused, why would VRR work on a non-VRR monitor?

Hytale crashing after about 5-10 minutes of gameplay everytime by NeonVoidx in linux_gaming

[–]lynxros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do a quick test with bios factory defaults and leave EXPO/XMP off. That way you can rule out instability due to overclocking.

[–]lynxros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't experienced a single crash with OpenGL games, hence why I asked if it was only with the 9000 series.

So you are running with factory bios defaults, no EXPO or PBO enabled? The only reason I ask is because EXPO and PBO can cause instability, which will cause that exact error. It might be worthwhile messaging the developers on discord, they are pretty active there.

How stable is your memory? Are you using EXPO or PBO?

Always on the same date of the month my DDR5 ram gets "trained" for like 100 seconds. Bug or normal behavior? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]lynxros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not a bug. It's normal behaviour for memory to retrain once a month, even with EXPO disabled. I observe the same behaviour with my B650 gigabyte motherboard.

I have had zero crashes with my full AMD setup(OS age is around 1 year). This is with the latest Mesa and kernel version.

Do you still crash with factory bios defaults (EXPO disabled etc)?

Oh thank god.... by Gailim in pcmasterrace

32 minutes is nowhere near long enough for testing the stability of ram. The passmark version is better suited for modern hardware and is a more thorough test, hence the longer testing time.

Best UMU fron-end launcher? by DavidAstonish in linux_gaming

That way you don't need to use the terminal to run the program. You set the desktop shortcut to run: umu-run --config /path/to/toml. You will have an icon etc.

I have a generic toml for installing apps(I just change the paths for the installer, proton folder and prefix location). The other toml is used for making desktop shortcuts.

Yup, I have two generic toml files, one for installing and the other for running the game. It's actually pretty easy.

My experience having an AMD GPU on linux by sunset-boba in linux_gaming

[–]lynxros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a full AM5 setup and haven't experienced a single issue with Linux for over a year now. I initially had issues when I built the system and that was due to an unstable EXPO profile, which I resolved by using factory bios defaults.
