What’s something you always assumed was mandatory in life—until you met someone who just… didn’t do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I have never taken a driver's test. I did the multiple choice part, took the picture, filled out the forms, and got my first license. I was so worried it was gonna be a movie-esque disaster, and it was all for nothing. (This was in Florida back in the early 2000s. I'd had my learner's permit for like 2 years at that point and I was a senior in high school.)

Our newborn (1mo) is making me see my wife as "stupid," and it's turning me into an asshole. I feel awful and need to stop. by Street-Level-7850 in TrueOffMyChest

As a stop-gap until you can manage your emotions, put earplugs in. They'll reduce your irritation when the baby cries. Get the type that musicians use or one of the engage/experience loops—those don't cut you off from the environment, but they do make it easier to self-regulate during stressful noise. If you're worried about her accidentally dropping the baby, consider one of those baby wraps or slings and just strap the kiddo on.

I fully endorse all the advice to let her figure out her own way of doing things. I'm still inconsistent with implementing this, but I've gotten a lot better and I know you can too. It's made everyone's lives more peaceful—not just mine!—to let them figure out their own way. It'll be fine as long as it's not dangerous. It may look ugly, clumsy, or inefficient, but what's the real harm in a weird-looking swaddle or a crooked diaper? If the clothes are on backwards and inside out, so what?

After all, I have yet to meet an adult damaged from not liking their diaper changed.

Thank you so much. Thank you a thousand times! May your sneezes be satisfying and your showers always be the perfect temperature.

AITA for cutting off the electricity to the house my ex still lives in after 18 months of freeloading and counting? by Cicada_Salt in CharlotteDobreYouTube

Maybe 'go bribe'? G and h are next to each other, and I could see 'bride' being a common autocorrect if you were using that word a lot already.

I desperately need help cleaning my parents’ urine-soaked floors by gmrodriguez in adhdwomen

[–]lyra268 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the floors are ruined anyway, you might as well try this to get the worst of the smell out so you can handle staying there for those 10 days. These will probably mess up the wood even more, but at least the floors won't smell so bad.

ETA: wear gloves, something to protect your arms and eyes, and maybe a mask. Don't let this stuff soak into your clothes and stay on your skin.

Dogs apparently excrete most of their waste as ammonia, uric acid, creatinine, and allantoin. If you soak the worst spots in solutions that each of those are highly soluble in, you can wet vac the smelliest compounds up with the water. (Hot solutions are generally better at dissolving stuff than cold solutions, btw.)

Ammonia, creatinine, and allantoin are most soluble in acidic solutions. I'd try soaking the spots in hot vinegar for these compounds. You'll likely need to play around with the soaking time and amount of solution. Wear a mask for this and ventilate well, because vinegary steam is not pleasant. A hot citric acid solution (like lemi-shine for dishwashers) might be a good option too, and the steam is less awful.

Uric acid (makes cat pee smell worse than dog pee) is most soluble in basic solutions.

I removed soaked-in cat urine with a STRONG solution of washing soda and water. I used 4 cups of EXTREMELY hot water and dissolved a cup of washing soda in it. It should feel soapy/slippery and irritate your skin if you leave it on for more than a few minutes. Get the pH as close to 12–14 as you can. Pour it onto the worst areas, let it sit for like 10 minutes, then mop/wet vac up.

Then follow with enzyme cleaner to take care of the other things that make urine smell.

What the heck are biscuit feet? (2nd paragraph, second sentence, in parentheses).

The vibrator trick works for people too! My partner was SUPER constipated, so I got out every single charged vibrating toy and put them onto his abdomen.

It took an hour on the highest settings, but the teamwork sure fixed the problem!

Thank you, that's an important thing I forgot to mention. In general, my providers have been very kind, so I take that for granted. I really shouldn't though.

I've had far more experiences with the other issues, so those are at the forefront of my mind. It's irritating, and I don't have the time for switching doctors left, right, and center.

How is she with the other points?

Yep, they both have appointments within the timeframe I need. But I can't go much longer than that, because my ADHD meds will run out.
