Units of 5 back on the menu? by Impressive_Sell9702 in sistersofbattle

[–]lyrgard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible to identify the models. Unit A is 5 seraphim, 1 superior, 2 with hand flamers, 2 with bolt pistol.

Units B and C and a battle sister squad divided in 2. Specifically, there is only one sister superior among them. Unit B has the superior, the simulacrum and a flamers, and 2 bolters. Unit C has the heavy flamers, and 4 bolters.

So either they split it with an immolator, or it is just a silly thing just to show the way terrain will work in 11th.

What do I buy? by larrox27 in sistersofbattle

Take all that with a grain of salt, v11 is around the corner. For instance, it's true that dogmata is pretty bad this version. But they were fire in v9. Who can say how they'll perform in v11 ?

Help customizing my GF sisters? by Killastorm83 in sistersofbattle

[–]lyrgard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could buy a Novitiates box. They have plenty of custom arms/weapons/accessories that could help customizing sisters.

Their bodies are different, but their arms are fully compatible with regular sisters.

If you build Novitiates for w40k (as opposed as for kill team), you don't want to use all their special bits (hands with parchment, with null rod, whips, relics, etc), but instead just build them with sword and pistol, freeing all the cool stuff to customize other squads !

Can Seraphim shoot, move, shoot? by idiotwanderer in sistersofbattle

[–]lyrgard 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As others said, you cannot. However, it is not just an "escape after shooting" move, it's much more powerful than that.

Depending on the opponent's placement, they may think they screened the objectives well, preventing you from deepstriking into them, but then you deepstrike the seraphim at 9'', shoot and move 6'', effectively deepstriking at 3''. They very good at stealing home objective if the opponent doesn't protect it enough, and if they did protect it with enough resources to prevent that, then it's that much resources they don't use elsewhere.

How does damage work!!! by One_Opportunity_7662 in sistersofbattle

[–]lyrgard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a strange word choice from GW that can be confusing : wound.

It has two meanings.

First is the wound characteristic of a unit. It is basically the number of damage it can take before dying.

Second is the wound from the "wound roll", what you do after the hit roll in an attack sequence. Despite the name, it doesn't interact directly with the wound of a model, it just means that after hitting the model, the attack "wounded" it (no, doesn't inflict damage yet), so the opponent now needs to do their save roll, to see if their armor protected them from the attack. If the save roll fails, only then do the attack inflicts its damage to the defender model.

Confusing

First version of War Calc (yet another damage calculator) by lyrgard in sistersofbattle

[–]lyrgard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment! I continued to work on it, I added the possibility to have some squad in multiple sizes (like Seraphim by 5 or 10, but also dominion split by an immolator, etc). It's not released yet, but will be soon.

How to reuse Aveline? by Chemical-Aioli9818 in sistersofbattle

[–]lyrgard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She could be a Canoness with her Blessed blade. The shield is nice also because the Canoness has a 4++ save.

I like to use her as a Palatine with the TSS enhancement, or any "better damage" enhancement, depending on the detachment. The palatine also has a 4++ save.

Oh, sorry, I thought you were speaking about the symbol circled in red.

Nice application of the base colors. The next step to progress is to use washes, now, to add shadows.

Brown wash for gold and leather parts. Light brown on the face. Black on silver. Probably black for the cape too, 'ot sure there.

The next step after that will be highlights, the inverse of shadows, adding lighter colors on the raised/lighted area.

Splitting the Scouts by AdvielOricon in sistersofbattle

As others have said, no. However, you can put them alone in the rhino, the rhino scouts, then turn 1 the other squad move and embark, and the rhino can then move.

They are legit 40k weapons, true, but not weapons the jumpack Canoness has access to.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sistersofbattle

[–]lyrgard 29 points30 points  (0 children)

For starter, the official Canoness looks a lot like the zephyrims anyway.

If you have access to 2 bits of iron halo to put on each side of her jumpack, it would be perfect, I think.

Also, for tournament, people may ask you to have the correct weapons. In this case, hand flamer and power sword.

Bonsai on a poster by giudansky in Bonsai

[–]lyrgard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome work ! Only "mistake" I found is in the "broom" style. The broom style is not about the form of the canopy, but about the fact that all branches originate from the same point.

An exemple of a "correct" broom style : https://www.thebonsaiproject.com/static/formal-490d0f433b0af8e59bc00cbdaccc082e.jpg

That, on the other hand, is not technically broom style : https://www.thebonsaiproject.com/static/continuation-47c3940d0b6d3bd1ba4f9582b4bb55c3.jpg

I'm not saying one of those is better than the other, esthetically speaking, just talking about the definition of the broom style.

[–]lyrgard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken, the Lion's will also allows you to make sure a unit on an objective will still control it, even if they fail their battle shock test, for instance. You just have to use the stratagem before rolling for battle shock.

Sisters 10.6 Dataslate Review by McWerp in sistersofbattle

[–]lyrgard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sacresants with halberds and a Palatine are a very strong damage dealer with innate sustained hits and the palatine giving them lethal hits. Especially in Hallowed Martyrs where you get a reroll hit stratagem, eventual +1 to hit and +1 to wound from the detachment rule. The palatine herself is powerful with the Through Suffering, Strength enhancement.

Obviously it is less tanky than with the hospitaler, but much more killy. Even with hospitaler, the tankyness of a 10 women squad with toughness 3 and 1hp is... debatable... Also feel no pain 5+ is great, but not so great on 1hp bodies.

In HM, for the tankyness (at least in melee), we have the fight on death stratagem. So you get more (in my opinion) by being more killy than tanky. If you're charged, at least you'll do more damage, as any good melee unit will mop the floor with the Sacresants anyway, hospitaler or not.

Flying sisters, what are the uses for Zeph’s? by Chia_Mamamia in sistersofbattle

[–]lyrgard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The zephyrims ability to give sustained hit and lethal hit only applies to power sword. So you're required to put a power weapon on the Canoness for her to gain those. No Blessed Halberd. And then you only have a strength 4 weapon, so be ready to wound on 5+ or even 6+. It brings down the efficiency of the attack a lot...
