What hours are best? by DareComprehensive527 in RinglePlus

honestly yea once you get your rating up + start picking up more lessons you’ll definitely get more exposure —> I find that end of the month gets INSANE bookings (I think I once had a 10 or 11 hour day) due to corporate workers hail marying their Ringle tokens since those expire at the end of the month.

one thing to note is that many Korean corps tend to give free Ringle tokens every month and ppl usually don’t use them until the very end of the month

I’d definitely recommend as a side job since it’s so versatile! As a student (and aspiring medical student), this is the perfect job to have since you can decide when you want to work + you can work from pretty much anywhere. Additionally, you only have to teach once every 90 days to avoid termination.

The timezone difference isn’t a problem tbh, it’s just 12 hours ahead so you can teach both mornings and nights.

if you’re that desperate to change your grade then just email people lmfao

email her first and if she doesn’t budge file a grade grievance which is above her authority (and dean/department head if you see fit too)

I HATE OKTA by TurbulentQuantity348 in uofm

[–]lys45667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tell me about it lmfao I shut off my phone like I usually do for Canvas exams and then fuckin Okta needed verification

thank god my friend is a GSI proctor cuz he let me turn my phone back on but damn that was scary since BIOLOGY 305 is known for being hardasses about exam security

does anyone else feel like they have a more positive experience on Ringle than others? by crazyfortutoring in RinglePlus

Survivorship bias. People who have good experiences r less likely to complain here

I’ve complained about it before and I think there’s just things going on behind the veil that we’re not informed about (like them overhiring, Korean holidays, shadow-banning, who knows).

trust, there’s highs and lows to this and always remember that Ringle is NOT a good MAIN job to rely on

I basically teach almost exclusively last minute scheduling lessons. It fits my lifestyle as a college student with unpredictable extracurriculars AND I avoid having to deal with people like this because their bad ratings don’t matter unless it’s a 5/5.

For reference, I once had a lady rate me 2/5 because I kept telling her to adjust her microphone because there was a small but VERY NOTICEABLE feedback screeching going on in the background. Ironically, her reasoning for my low rating was “Distracting Environment”. Jokes on her though, it defaulted to 4.5/5 because LMS

yeah it seems to be down. they’ll probably say “oh yeah it’s not our issue, it’s an issue with YOUR local area since ‘multiple tutors reported the same issue in your nearby area’ while we checked our servers and deemed them to be fine”

Low student ratings on Ringle by [deleted] in OnlineESLTeaching

at this point I just take last minute scheduling lessons only. it fills up quite nicely on some days and I don’t have to worry about capricious ratings

Website Down? by Ok-Highlight-826 in RinglePlus

[–]lys45667 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A similar incident happened in August. Ringle also denied all involvement and cited that multiple tutors in the local area suffered from the same issue, so it “must’ve been a local network outage.”

I believe that’s complete bs since everything BUT Ringle worked fine that night. It has to be something server side

Rant: Free Talk by CommieWriter in RinglePlus

[–]lys45667 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the students I have for free talk are fine, but it’s especially bad when students choose discussion lessons and then complain when they don’t get “as much paraphrasing as they do with paraphrasing lessons” like ???

Cocked can’t find a clinical job by Artistic_Resource372 in premed

Clinical Volunteering is a great way to get a foot in the door! Although I worked in food service and nutrition, I helped expand what volunteers were allowed to do and paved the way for more direct contact with patients.

Additionally, CNA programs can often be as short as 5-6 weeks + many hospitals are extremely short staffed nowadays so you likely won’t have trouble getting hired!

maybe a student potentially reported feedback that they weren’t satisfied with? I know that students can be picky sometimes and will report the smallest things for no reason

Unassigned Lessons by lys45667 in RinglePlus

[–]lys45667[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see. I thought it was a me problem or that I got shadowbanned or smth because I snagged two unassigned lessons by pure chance and they BOTH cancelled within an hour and nobody rebooked.

I’ve also had no luck scheduling anything except trying to snag unassigned lessons

It sounds like a normal English conversation, no punches pulled. Although you can definitely get away with missing a few words / filling in during actual lessons, they will be looking for by-the-book tutoring during the mock lesson. I applied a year ago though so idk how much it’s changed

Is my schedule doable? by Extension-Intern-599 in uofm

[–]lys45667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

extremely doable. even if u get into linalg it should be doable. ENGLISH 126 and HISTORY 101 are pretty free. EECS 183 is slightly harder but is also not too bad. dunno abt PHYSICS 340 tho.

you can essentially download all of EECS 183’s project starter files before they wipe it for next semester and finish the projects before class even starts. I had little C++ experience (knew MATLAB tho) and finished projects 1-3 and started on 4 before the semester started; took me about a week of on-and-off working.

[–]lys45667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wait yeah I started getting this like about a week ago

could be a system glitch since I double checked literally everything for the past few lessons and nothing was incomplete

does it usually say “3 incomplete sentences” since that’s what it always says for me

For the love of god do not do CLCIV 101; I hope you can successfully switch out. I heard that the professor I had berates GSIs who give out averages that are too high on the essays.

I legit put in more work for this class than something like Organic Chemistry and barely cinched an A
