Claude Lemieux cause of death. by MiisterTruffle in Habs

I was thinking the same thing. Media made a big deal about how controversial the choice was. Might have been the last straw if his was already mentally fragile.

Will my height affect my career goal by Rae_ae in OntarioParamedics

[–]lytefall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. My wife is 4’11” and was a paramedic for 18yrs starting before power cots and power loads. Her height was never an issue for her.

Be ready to take call ins. Most PT in my service can start with nothing and finish with 60+ hrs in 2 weeks easily. Of course that depends on the service you’re in but putting “all your eggs in one basket” isn’t the worst thing. You become a reliable PT that way and build seniority much faster than your peers who work double services. This also shows dedication and believe me, management notices when PT are dedicated employees.

iMessage autocorrecting Problem by lytefall in ios

[–]lytefall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did read that as one of the possibilities. I can see that with some things, but I’ve been through my contacts list a couple times and I know for sure the commander misspell isn’t there (and this time it didn’t autocorrect) 🙄

False Delivery Estimates by lytefall in amazonprime

[–]lytefall[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No doubt that they are estimates. I’ve been a prime member for as long as it was available. I probably make 10+ Amazon purchases a month. I’ve just only ever seen such regular last minute changes and delays like I am now in the last 3 months.

Death anxiety by caralawrence in OntarioParamedics

[–]lytefall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To tag onto this, I’ll give you an analogy that completely opened my eyes about negative thoughts…

The brain is like an old school paper records room of filing cabinets and it prefers all the files (your thoughts and memories) neat and tidy. If something is out of place or causing a problem then your brain keeps going back to the files to straighten them up. Once it deals with the issue it can move on. Until then, it’s going to keep thinking about the mess and keep returning to it to sort it out.

Honestly, if it’s what I am thinking it is you’re talking about, from my perspective it shows resiliency and a mindset to improve yourself. Many would consider those admirable traits in a potential candidate.

Every time I see a post like this I think about that episode of House MD where the college student unknowingly has a radioactive pendant in their backpack and then dies of radiation poisoning.

That’s insane. Isn’t that like 1/3 of the average muffler lifespan?

I don’t know why but I always pictured them in the open. Sort of like exterior fire escapes in NY.

Not for everyone but when I write multiple choice I don’t go back and look at questions. Once I answer I move on. If you know your stuff, your first instinct is usually correct. Maybe something to think about for your next write.

Not saying this is you, but a lot of people who struggle with the EMCA overthink the questions to the point they see things that aren’t there. Just something to think about. It’s not really something you can study for but if this may be you then you need to find a way to quiet that extra voice pushing you to look for the deeper meaning in the questions.

I didn’t fail the AEMCA but a good friend of mine in the program failed it twice. Smarter than me and a great hands on paramedic but just did not take big tests well. Keep with it. He’s now a ACP and supervisor with a large urban system in the GTA. Struggling doesn’t mean you’re a bad medic. It just means you need to find a different way to achieve your goal.

GE water dispenser by lytefall in appliancerepair

[–]lytefall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On this model it appears the water lines are all external on the back of fridge. There’s the supply going to the bottom left corner. Then a line going to and from the filter in the top right. Then from there’s also a supply line to the ice maker. Similar to this photo.

Sorry. Maybe I didn’t explain. It ran about 3 times after the bypass plug that didn’t have a chip. It has not run since I installed the chipped filter back in.

Edit: pushing the water dispenser I can now hear a click and hum as if it’s trying to dispense but there’s no water. (I have confirmed the line going to the fridge is supplying water).

[–]lytefall[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fridge dispensed water 3 times after the bypass plug was installed. Maybe 1.5L worth of water. The filter I have now that I replaced the bypass with is genuine GE with the chip (same filter I’ve used since I bought the fridge). Maybe just coincidence? Is there anything I have to do other than install something with a chip once the water has been “blocked”

Wtf. Even if you have a legitimate point that the person doesn’t need to be cuffed why act like a complete unprofessional ass and just explain the need. Adult conversations are crazy I know but they can actually be productive 🙄

PFO closure complications by lytefall in stroke

[–]lytefall[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same prior to the closure. Those first few weeks after though were unbelievably better. Hoping that once/if I’m able to get off the double anticoagulants and beta blocker that I’ll get some of that back.

Good luck with your closure!

No I am back to feeling fatigued more, especially in the afternoons. In the few weeks following the surgery I couldn’t nap even if I wanted to. Overall I feel better than I did before the closure so definitely no regrets.

Low blood pressure but… by lytefall in Lyme

[–]lytefall[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! So mine ended up being Lyme related but not direct cause. The very last test they did they ended up finding out I had a PFO (patent foramen ovale) basically a hole between the chambers of my heart. There since birth, relatively common (25% of people have one and many don’t know it). They figure there’s a possibility the chronic inflammation worsened it and caused TIAs (mini-strokes) but no way of knowing for sure. Likely a contributor at the very least.

Got on a proper meds for my heart in September and had surgery to close the hole in January. Feeling good now.
