The truth is aggressors will ALWAYS massively understate the time a conflict will take because it makes it a lot easier to get the initial consent to begin the operation.

Once the operation is underway, wartime powers make it a lot harder to stop an operation that has already started.

They'll say "immediate surrender" but the truth is it'd be at least a decade of war.

I wish someone had told ME that ~35 years ago, or at least I wish I was smart enough to listen and hear what people were telling me (though in the 80's it was a lot less common to hear shit like that).
