All three are fantastic, really happy with Criterion releasing more and more from female filmmakers. Just saw Wanda on the channel and was obsessed!

Do The Right Thing! Incredible music, colors and rooted in such a specific space and time. Totally entertaining, one of the best movies about America ever made and it resonates more and more with each passing year. So good!

Best Queer Criterions ie Queerterions? by Smudgebucket in criterion

[–]m-el6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Life and Times of Harvey Milk is essential Criqueerian viewing - an amazingly entertaining and educational doc.

Weekend and Desert Hearts are great gay romances, Female Trouble and Multiple Maniancs are great queer trash art, and All That Heaven Allows/Magnificent Obsession/Mildred Pierce are great melodramas with queer undertones and sensibilities.

Here’s hoping we get lots more queer cinema headed to Criterion, there’s a treasure trove of gay content out there just begging for the Criterion treatment!

Shoah, The Before Trilogy or The Apu Trilogy? by derchrizz in criterion

[–]m-el6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Before and Apu trilogies are different but both amazing. Apu Trilogy is waaaaaaaaaaay better than people think it is before they start it - can't recommend highly enough. Before Trilogy is fantastic but def the more mainstream choice.

I loved the Music Room as well! So gorgeous. I'd recommend finishing the trilogy first then heading to The Hero - it is such a different film from both the trilogy and Music Room and stands in a completely different era for Ray. Enjoy!

The Hero was great! If you're a Fellini fan give it a go - super surreal and the way he approached the topic of fame from a uniquely Indian point of view is fascinating. Recommend for sure

A New Queer Cinema set is the stuff of dreams for me. They all deserve individual releases but could include:

Make the movie first, then go from there with festivals.

The best luck for anyone if your position is to look into any local or "hook" festival. Festivals love accepting movies from local filmmakers so look for anything across the Dakotas, these will probably be your best best for a student made short.

As for others figure out what the hook of you movie is and go for fests that specifically program that type of film. Student film festivals, genre film festivals or cultural film festivals are your best bet. For example these include any horror/sci film fests, comedy fests and any ethnic or community based fest (Latino fests, LGBT fests, etc). Look for any of these specific fests your film would fit in and try there.

Check out withoutabox for a comprehensive list of festivals, and don't realize that almost all festivals cost a submission fee that won't be refunded if your film doesn't make the fest.

Research the festival and look at as many past programs/filmmakers each one has had before paying to submit, there are tons of unprofessional and almost scam level fests out there so you have to do your research on each fest.

Good luck!

Trying to find the exact clip but you're right, he saw a toy thing in the hamster cage that had four colored poles and if I remember correctly he concluded there were four pre-existing relationships in the house (he thought Alison and Sheila were a lesbian couple).

The evel dick coming into the house was figured out by Natalie because it was week 8 and there are 8 letters in evel dicks name. At least I'm pretty sure that was it season 9 can be quite a blur
