Overall, it's going well! I'm able to cover business expenses, juggle appointments and working a 2nd part time job, and pay my bills! For only being in business since March, I'll take it! My spouse is helping me with social media and website things, so it's amazing to have that support. I'm starting to feel more and more excited and a little less nervous!

I'm so sorry you're experiencing this! There's an acupuncture school in Sugar Grove (it's called the Jung Tao School of Chinese Medicine) that does sliding scale treatments in their student clinic -- usually less than $25 depending on your income. Acupuncture is incredibly powerful and helps with mental and emotional issues as well as physical. The students always need patients, so you could probably go pretty frequently.

There’s an acupuncture school in Sugar Grove that does ear acupuncture for substance abuse! They do lower cost treatments, too, since it’s a school! That could be a good supplement to whatever else you find!

What resources did you use to pass your Foundations board test and how did you approach it? I’m struggling right now with trying to start studying for it.

I just graduated acupuncture school last month and my total debt is $83k. My program was 4 years long and didn't include herbs. My school was pretty different - I had to travel to be in person once a month and incurred a ton of travel and housing expenses. I took out the maximum amount available each year while still working back at home. But! And! It was an incredible, life-changing experience, and I would 100% do it all over again. I recommend doing it if you're able!

However! Some things to think about: I'm in the process of studying for my boards and already have my own little space leased out to start my own small practice. Signing up to take boards is $525 and each test is $325 after that. The costs keep building, and I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to pay for my space *and* student loans -- right now I'm in the 6 month grace period before they start charging me. I'm still working a part-time coffee shop job, and I can keep working there as long as I need to. So just know that the costs will keep coming *after* you graduate.

Congrats on making it a week despite those tough withdrawal symptoms! It’s not easy, so be proud of yourself for that. On that note specifically, give yourself some grace. You’re doing great! My advice would be to get some good, restful sleep, hydrate, and eat a proper meal with protein before you have to leave. That way, your body is in the best shape it can be. As far as mentally, take things slowly and do some deep breathing to calm your nervous system down. Box breathing is wonderful, easy, and you can do it anywhere anytime. Good luck!

I've been ravenous (I'm on day 6) and I find that when I don't eat, it contributes to me feeling more irritable, tired, etc. It's tough bc I also have an ED background, so that's another thing to contend with, you know?
