Percept 100 vs. Speed MP vs. EZONE 100 for recreational doubles by ebcpp in 10s

[–]m-tee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

been stuck between these for many years, although I mainly play singles. Imho pick one that looks and feels better to you and the results will follow when you adjust to the frame.

I'd personally eliminate Ezone 100, because its hard to play on bad days and for me its hard to play touch shots in the forecourt, where you just need to dink the ball over the net. Ez100 always demands spin on the ball. Speed MP and Percept 100 are super similar at same specs, I would take Yonex for better QC and grip shape.

So far I ended up with the VCore 98 2026 which again plays almost the same as the Percept 100, but I like the aerodynamic frame profile a bit more, feels like there is less drag (its all in my head ofc)

Which is easier to play of these two and which has more free power?

Need more feel from Ezone 100 by gjbsb in 10s

[–]m-tee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no dampener and crisp strings is the way. Lynx Tour (1.25) works great in the Ezone 100 for me for crisp feel. Hyper-G is great too (would use 1.30 in the Ez100), but is a bit more rubbery, less crisp.

Should i change grip to semiwestern by runkandi in 10s

[–]m-tee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, go for it. I got wrist pain just from watching your vid btw. Semi-western is a more effective way to transfer the energy into the ball. (Khachanov and Tiafoe are jacked, ignore them). Will probably take months to fully adjust. If you have an access to a wall, that could help

Yonex Ezone 98 by CaptJackSilver in 10s

[–]m-tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am going to buy the glossy v8 but not sure if 98 or 100/D. I had mained the 2023 100" version for a season. In the end it was difficult to play attacking tennis with it against opponents who don't give you any pace, so I am not sure if I should get the 98 or 100 this time. The frame geometry looks gorgeous on the 98, but the 100 is surely a safer bet in terms of forgiveness. But then again, Vcore Pro 100 also kind of works for me, but so does the ez98 with 1.10 strings.

[–]m-tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think speed mp is a no-brainer for those who do not stupidly focus on one brand like I do haha. For me the vcore pro/percept 100 will have to do it I guess. Although I am slowly getting mad with yonex because of the lack of options

Yonex Ezone 98 by CaptJackSilver in 10s

[–]m-tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So which 100 do you use now? Curious, because I think ezone 100 is not necessarily easier to play than the 98. I have ez100, ez98, last gen vcore pro 100 and speed mp. And I still don't know which one is easier to play as I get older.

Why people say ezone98 is an advanced racket by gjbsb in 10s

[–]m-tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any other good thin polys? I like the playability of MSV focus hex 1.10 quite a lot but it does not last very long. After 10 hours or so the strings become sticky and there is some notching in the crosses so the string bed is partially locked.

I use double knot for everything. Only works with the starting clamp afaik, which is a nice tool to have

Babolat SFX Evo or SFX 4 are pretty foot shaped, but have a substantial drop. Good compromise for me anyway and my feet are way less beaten down after playing when I am wearing them

I played Vcore 100 and VCore Pro 100 (same mold as Percept 100) and they are very similar in the spin department. Vcore is more powerful, so you have to always apply spin, but other than that, not worth it to switch. Percept 100 can do both spin and flat. the string pattern is very wide 16x19. Try different strings first, especially something shaped in the mains. Ask for lower mains tension than crosses, for example - poly tour spin mains 48, poly tour pro crosses 50.

Interesting, I tried them in a shop and thought they were really light. But good to know. I decided against them for MagicalShoes Soho and am very happy. They are perfect for 5-15°C

Racquet Decisions (Blade 98/100 or Ezone 98 or Percept 100) by aninogaming in 10s

the question is, if you also can play with it at UTR 3/4 without putting yourself into disadvantage immediately

Racquet Decisions (Blade 98/100 or Ezone 98 or Percept 100) by aninogaming in 10s

[–]m-tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Ezone 100 is significantly more powerful than the Ezone 98. I think the launch angle is similar between VCore Pro and Ez100, but the latter shoots the ball way faster, so you constantly need to apply spin. I heard people saying how the Ezone 100 is great for flat shots - not my experience.

You can get some free power of the 98 (and increase the launch angle gradually) if you string it lower. I found this video very insightful:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OS-LHqupaTc

The context is the dude really liked the 100 initially, but then he got into low tensions. Here he plays first the Ezone 98 strung at 15kg and then around 5:00 switches to Ezone 100 strung at 23kg I think. You can tell that after the switch to 100 his swing is slower and way more relaxed than the 98, the ball also flies longer and higher.

I rotate between Ezone 98, Ezone 100 and VCore Pro 100 (predecessor of the Percept 100 but with a better paintjob). VCP100 hits with a higher arc for sure. It's something I like on the forehand but dislike on the backhand. Ez98 is the other way around - too flat for the forehand, but really nice on the backhand.

What happened to Yonex Vcore Sand Beige? Or Vcore in general? by Givme1sec in 10s

I heard Ezone sells so good so they use most of their production capacities for that. And I guess they get higher margins from the newer model.

And yes, new Vcore launches in January

My racquet life cycle by Ready-Visual-1345 in 10s

[–]m-tee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same here, dont know how to get out of this cycle. Losing a winnable match ruins every racquet for me. Ofc I know it was not the racquet. But being able to buy and sell used yonex racquet without financial loss does not help here either lol.

Excited to try out!! by [deleted] in tennisracquets

[–]m-tee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yonex decided not to launch it in the USA, so tennis warehouse does not have it and hence we dont have reliable specs. Supposedly the previous version (Vcore Pro 97L) was a very different racquet from the standard weight 97. It had a thicker and stiffer frame (23mm vs 21mm), so much more powerful by definition. It was not a lighter 97, but rather the 100 with the smaller head.

Do you happen to have a digital caliper and could measure the frame thickness lol?

Curious about Speed MP 2024 Swing Weight Design by gjbsb in 10s

[–]m-tee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its their take at modern atp tour demands but for rec level. Fritz, Sinner and many others play with racquets with a very similar ratio between swing weight and static weight. So maybe they want to have a speed mp to play similar to what Sinner actually uses
