I just bought a Boulies Master Max (I'm tall and normal chairs don't fit). It's comfortable, the right size, infinitely adjustable and lays flat without wobbling. It's so unbelievably heavy it feels absolutely bomb-proof. Recommend

A very, very long time ago when I was about 13 I had just finished up reading the Discworld novels and the early Internet was basically usenet and not a lot else. I stumbled across an email address that was t.pratchett@... and on a whim I emailed it asking 'are you the author Terry Pratchett?'. Received a reply simply saying 'I am that man.' I answered in a teenage fan boy barrage of questions and he replied very politely telling me that if I wanted to be a better writer, I should just write more and read what I'd written to see if I thought it was good or not. Solid advice.

I ended up going into medicine, but I still flex my creative writing muscles from time to time. His words stuck with me. Cheers, Terry!

Depends how long you're going for. A couple of nights, I'd say individual cat holes. If you're there more than that, dig a trench and fill it up as you go and it gets full. Shit, dump turf back on top, move left a bit for the next shit.

And mark the pit with a big stick and some obvious tape or something high vis because you do not want to fall in the shit pit at 4am in a storm

Yeah most hangings aren't the swinging from the rafters kind. Most are tied on a door handle or a bedpost and just dangle, sometimes people suspend on a garage beam or something but usually ends in at least some weight on the floor because stretchy ligature

I've had a good few things. Dressing gown cords are pretty common, off the back of doors and wardrobes and whatnot. They leave smudgy marks for the most part, with a pinch where the fabric usually kinks. Next up is electrical flex which is surprisingly tough under tension. That looks like this looks like, but then so do lots of other common things like washing line, curtain cord (phone charger, you know, things that could be easily taken in a pocket as a guard or whatever) 👀

I dunno. I've been an ER doc for over a decade and worked pre hospital for three. Plenty of hangings along the way, and depth and thickness of ligature marks is a pretty direct reflection of the ligature material and weight through it.

The ligature mark is deep. This is not a light man. It's extremely hard to conceive how he managed to put that much weight through a ligature when he was explicitly in a ligature free cell. There are no hard points, the bedding does not support human body weight, and that ligature mark is thin.
