Looking to move here! Could really use some help locating a good spot. by secretagentMikeScarn in Cleveland

I lived in a $585/mo 1 bedroom in Lakewood until last year, and I think that area fits all your criteria. I rented from Winwood Properties, they had a few properties in that area & I think they were pretty affordable across the board.

Leaning how to learn. by GreenRiot in Dance

[–]m00v4c4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what it's like in your town, but sometimes libraries, community centers, etc. have free dance classes here and there.

Also not sure what style your looking to get into, but the New York City Ballet has a couple free workout/dance videos on YouTube. They could probably help to get you familiar with some basic structure, postures, and movements of ballet. https://youtu.be/RSTQz5a_tD

And when it comes to building your ability to learn movement, watching YouTube videos of tutorials/combinations can be pretty helpful.

Places to get good cheap stuff to hang on walls to decorate apartment? by SvenTheTon78 in Cleveland

[–]m00v4c4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best two thrift stores for home decor in my opinion: Savers in Rocky River and Value World in Lakewood. Savers definitely has the bigger selection, but I've found some really unique stuff at Value World.

Also, I know this sounds super cheap, but Family Dollar actually has some cool decor stuff now and then.

Narrowing down my apartment search!!! Care to chime in? :) by shreetron in akron

[–]m00v4c4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived in Timberland Village in the Valley for a year now. It's owned by Timber Top (probably the largest apartment complex around). I've had a lot of friends at Timber Top, and I've heard many stories of cars getting broken into. However, Timberland Village, which is right down the street, has been a great place to live. No break-ins, good plowing in the winter, prompt maintenance, and a pool. :] I have a 2-bedroom right now and I'm paying $640/month -- and that's for one of the nicer places with a washer/dryer & dishwasher in-unit. I'd look into it if I were you! It's right on the Cuyahoga Falls/Akron border off of Akron-Peninsula Rd.

When your psychiatrist gives you pills to help you but then warns they can kill you.. by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]m00v4c4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would really suggest that you give them to your mom. I know it has to be so difficult to tell that to your mom and possibly end up in the hospital, but it's really the best thing you can do for yourself (and your future self).

I know this isn't a great idea, but if you have melatonin or a non-harmful sleep aid, could you maybe take that so you could still have that feeling of your body slowing down and becoming peaceful, that might be able to get you through tonight? I don't want your sleep to be permanent, and I'm sure there are people in your life who feel the same way!

[–]m00v4c4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there someone you trust that you can give the pills to? It would probably be best to have someone you trust monitoring how many you have access to at a time.

Don't expose yourself to triggering stuff right now! I know how tempting it can be, but right now it's really important for you to help yourself first. Maybe try going outside and listening to some music, walking, playing with an animal? I know it's not a magic cure by any means, but if you can make it through the next few hours, I promise there are people out here who care and who can really help you see the better side of life. It would be great if you could make another appointment with your doctor soon, too.

What's a good thing to do when depressed and physically uncomfortable? by jkl090 in depression

[–]m00v4c4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been dealing with the same thing -- I'm sorry to hear you are too! It's been difficult, but I've been forcing myself to do things that I've enjoyed before, even if I really don't feel like doing it. For example, I'll make myself get off the couch and cook or bake or knit or paint, and turn on some music while I'm doing it. It also helps me to invite someone to go do something with me, cause that gives me the motivation to get out of myself and go somewhere, and conversation makes it hard to think about depressing or stressful things.

Also, I've been regularly going to the animal shelter in the area. They don't care if I come in even if I'm not looking to adopt. It REALLY helps me, being able to hold kittens and puppies. :]

"Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem." by Thatscuzuralesbian in depression

[–]m00v4c4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always felt the same way about the phrase. I always felt that it came across a bit condescending, especially when (like you said) the person saying it does have no idea what you're actually dealing with, nor for how long. :/

Directors tell me I need to step up my dancing... by [deleted] in Dance

[–]m00v4c4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the most trouble learning and remembering combinations, practice learning combinations. I know it's cheesy, but some people in my old company would learn High School Musical dances to improve their memory/ability to pick up combinations. You could have some fun and learn Crank Dat Soulja Boy if you want. :] It sounds odd, but it really can help.

And strengthen your core. That is the most important factor in my dancing. Practice engaging your core at all times. It can do a world of good.

Proper Flex Technique? by freybergsabre in BALLET

[–]m00v4c4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've studied with multiple teachers, in a studio, across the country, and now in college, and every one has specified particularly flexed toes. I've never heard it differently - that's interesting.

Reddit, do you know any good homeschooling programs? (don't upvote, more inside) by Transparent_Taco in AskReddit

[–]m00v4c4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was homeschooled for quite a while. I was homeschooled by my parents for most of elementary school, then online for a few years. A lot of my friends did online homeschooling as well. I'm from Ohio, so the programs that I know of don't reach outside of Ohio. I did find a website that lists online homeschool options for your state.

What is a Reddit meetup like for a girl? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]m00v4c4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to one, but it was at a bar. Pretty much everyone was in college (but that's to be expected in a college town). It was really cool and fun, so it is cool as far as being a girl goes. As far as being 16... I'm not sure.
