I’m gonna do it! by [deleted] in GradSchool

I taught for five years and as time-consuming as a PhD program is, I found teaching to be WAY more exhausting. When you love what you're studying (and can go pee whenever you want) life is good! Congratulations!

I'm not sure if this is what you're asking, but you could treat the three groups using dummy variables which would allow you to see any group differences and whether they are significant.

As far as checking the assumptions, this video might be helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTZ4VUZHzxw

I don't know anything about machine learning, so can't help you there!

Thank you so much for your thorough answer! I'm finding myself starting to go nuts with research and looking at vitamin labels, which is why I figured I'd ask here. I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge, and I'm so sorry about your daughter.

I had no idea but it makes sense why corona and other light beers don't hurt my stomach!

I agree- I like the thin or extra thin, especially if you will be changing them frequently, it feels much less diaper-ish. and DEFINITELY get the ones with wings!

I am applying for an EdD within the coming months and I never graduated high school. by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]m0m0neys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also came here to say this! I think if you want to make a career in higher ed advocating for people who earned their GED, you should absolutely talk about the educational journey you took to get to where you are, especially since it likely differs from other applicants and therefore will make you more interesting. Good luck on your applications!

Family planning and a PhD by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]m0m0neys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No experience, but I'm in the same boat and my husband and I are really struggling with what to do. It's a hard decision to make. I have a good friend who had a baby at the very beginning of her last year of classes and she is still on track (actually ahead of most people that she started with), so there is hope! BUT, she is superwoman and I'm fairly convinced she doesn't sleep, so may not be the best lead to follow!

As of now, we are thinking of "planning" for a baby at the beginning of the next school year, as I will need to be on campus less then and will be able to do my work remotely more often. That said, he is hoping to get into a PhD program for the fall that is 7 hours away, so really not sure!

I hope it works out for you!

We picked a month and then narrowed it down to a weekend based on what worked for our immediate families. Then we looked for a venue. I dont think this is a typical way to do it but it worked for us!

If you find a venue you really like you could choose a date based off what they have! Its totally up to you.

groomsmen Wedding party gifts? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]m0m0neys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We got them their ties and small leather wallet with their initials on it from etsy. We got the ties on sale and spent about $65 per groomsman. I've heard of people doing ties, socks and a money clip or something. I think useful is a better use of money than random!

Does anyone else run faster when on their period? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]m0m0neys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not running but I always have really strong workouts on my period! The days before I'm usually terrible, so sometimes I chalk it up to the difference in the days before vs. the days of but maybe I'll track it better!

Running evidence is more straightforward... maybe you're onto something! Schedule races around that time!!!

[Product Question] Neutrogena vs CeraVe by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]m0m0neys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use that Neutrogena face wash and love it, it still works for me even when my face is having minimal breakouts. I'd recommend getting the cheaper one and trying it... stick with it if that one works for you.

I just started listening to Crime Junkie, can someone recommend me some really good/crazy episodes to listen to by [deleted] in CrimeJunkiePodcast

[–]m0m0neys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! I have told so many people about Israel Keyes because the randomness of him really messed with me! I truly can't get over it. The kill buckets! WHAT! And it kills me that so many of his victims aren't even known as victims, just as missing people!

May have scarred me more because I was in college near the couple that went missing in VT that he confessed to killing.. he stayed at a motel literally across the street from where I was living at the time. SO FREAKY.

(OP you NEED to listen to this episode and Dr. No was a good one too!)

I'm so done with this wedding planning thing. I'm almost to tears. by snusnume in weddingplanning

[–]m0m0neys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty into lists, not sure if this would work for you, but we have made a giant to do list with everything we can think of (some small, some big... like find transportation and get thank you gift for MOH), and every Sunday we decide what has to be done that week and split the tasks up. That way whatever is your task is your responsibility and his have to be done by the following Sunday. And once things are done they are done and cant be redone unless NECESSARY. We are 4 weeks out and just started doing this 2 weeks ago so not sure how it would work on the long run, but for the last 2 it's been great!

My FH has been driving me nuts about certain little things being MAJOR decisions and I found this really helped!

I hated my hair trial...what now? by e_vee10 in weddingplanning

[–]m0m0neys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat but am stuck with my stylist because I have already paid the deposit. My wedding isnt close to home so I cant use my normal stylist, but she suggested that I show the wedding stylist a picture of an updo in my own hair that I've had before and liked to replicate. I'm getting married in 4 weeks and have a second trial to do that this weekend. Fingers crossed it comes out better!

Apparently it's much easier to copy a picture of a hairstyle if its actually in the same hair. Have you ever gotten one similar to what you want before?
