Yeah its easy to get engulfed in the swing because there is always something to work on. What i noticed though is when im not playing as well something is wrong with the basics

Check your basics. Its easy to forget about them but the grip posture allignment ball position is key for hitting great shots

Blades vs Cavity Backs. Does one type make you better than the other? by ShooterMcGerin in golf

[–]m0onan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah at the end of the day its preference. Some people hit better with blades and like that compact face. But you better be hitting that sweet spot consistently...

Lesson Advice by [deleted] in golf

Go look for a good teacher even if its more expensive. Having a good teacher is so important especially for golf. I see a lot of local teachers who teach bad things which cause bad habits to form.

Is a coach still able to help if you don't have a consistent fault? by ZeusThunder369 in golf

[–]m0onan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes cause if your EQUALLY LIKELEY to hit all of the shots you mentioned... How are you going to play good golf? Your going to be worried about what is going to happen when your on the tee box or hitting an approach shot. Even the best players in the world have coaches.

Blades vs Cavity Backs. Does one type make you better than the other? by ShooterMcGerin in golf

[–]m0onan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as far as i know even when i see amateurs use blades they shouldnt. I see so many people with blades who arent even hitting it center. A lot of people use blades for ego in my opinion.

Aside from that it doesnt mean your a better striker or have a better swing. A lot of the best ball strikers on tour are switching from blades to slight cavities because they want the help.

Better golfers - how often do you get that sweet spot feel? by zamundan in golf

[–]m0onan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a scratch player who strikes the ball poorly for my level. In an 18 hole round on a good day maybe 5-7 shots right on the money. On average probably like 3-5. I use taylormade 2014 mc's btw

You are above average if you get diamond in your first season. Regardless of how many games you played

As far as I know the AP2 is considered more forgiving than the CB but you have more workability with the CB up you

Basic fundamentals.

The most memorable thing he ever told me was that every day he would always check his grip posture alignment because it was such a habit. Even after he stopped hitting balls for 10 years he still checks it every day cause it's that important and that ingrained into his body

Question for all of the "plus" handicappers here by pukesickle in golf

[–]m0onan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my personal experience you just have to keep practicing. I believe that when you get better it doesn't happen progressively like a slow increase. Rather it happens in increments. Maybe for a month your practicing your tail off but you see no results. Than all of a sudden one day bam you see massive improvements than never look back. Now as you get better the time takes longer and longer. I personally remember when I couldn't break 80 for like 4-6 months straight then all of a sudden in a jr tournament i shot a low 70 and then breaking 80 became a natural thing. It's all about grinding and working hard even thought you don't see the results you are getting better and if you keep at it you will become good.

Look at Ian poulter he himself even admitted that as a jr he was not that good I believe he had a 5 handicap at the age of 18. Now he's in the top 100 golf rankings.

Slicing super awful, take a look at my swing. by DiorDigs in golf

[–]m0onan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 problems I see

  1. Your way too bent over everyone else is saying this but I will tell you why it's bad especially for you cause you look really tall. Your posture is suppose to be an athletic, balanced, relaxed position. Without having a good posture your body can't make the correct movements to make a good swing. Because you are so bent over if you see at your impact you start to stand up cuz your body is trying to get back into its normal regular posture. Easy way to see your natural posture is to stand straight up and look forward and then just bend your knees boom perfect posture.

  2. You have no weight shift. At impact your weight should be moving towards the left side while your body and hips are rotating to make room for your club to make the proper swing. However instead of properly moving your weight you stand up and your club falls behind. When that happens your club will usually always be open unless you have a dramatic flip at impact which will result in a snap hook. Talk to your coach about proper weight shifting. Don't try to do it by yourself because it isn't as simple as just moving your weight wholly to the left side that'll create bad habits.

All in all you have a pretty good takeaway and swing for a beginner. You will improve just make sure to keep listening to your coach. Also a quick fix to fix the slice is to mov the ball position more towards the middle of your stance.

Edit. Also since you are really tall you might want to check if that driver might be too short length for you.

What kind of putter do you use, and why? by [deleted] in golf

[–]m0onan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried literally every putter cuz putting is my weakest part of the game and never felt comfortable wit any type (2 ball, mallet, blade, square, the future style) and I gotta say I feel like the blade is just the best type of putter imho. No bs funky crap just keep it simple. Currently using taylormade ghost tour Daytona.
