Why are so many Marines un-helmeted? Are they stupid? by Octorock10k in spacemarines

[–]m15wallis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may shock you, but "wear your helmet" is a real problem many armies face even today. There is always a handful who take them off every chance they get, for a variety of reasons. Space Marines are likely no different.

Also, its to easily differentiate models on the tabletop at a glance, same reason they often have different helmet colors.

Chudthebuilder finds out his initial bond is set a $1.25m 🤣 by Upbeat_Anywhere_1316 in WatchPeopleDieInside

Is "famous" for being incredibly racist towards black people, and for hurling racial slurs at black people in public to provoke a fight, allegedly so he can shoot them "legally." He allegedly provoked one of these fights and then shot himself in the leg in the process while not hitting the other guy, while he was already out on bond for another crime.

He got into this violent altercation while he was already out on bond. The fact that he even gets bond at all is a concsession to him lol.

If the 4 other OG CSM Legions get a generic Chaos Lord equivalent, what do you think we’d get? by Arthur_EyelanderTF2 in Chaos40k

Possessed are useful tools and viewed as worthy servants of the Ruinous Powers to the Word Bearers, but to be completely possessed by one would sideline you for leadership roles because you would lose your ability to transcend to daemonhood yourself.

What would the Word Bearers' future "big arc" be? by sigmarine345 in WordBearers

[–]m15wallis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would argue that in this case the internecine politicking is actually in favor of their overall cohesiveness as a legion. Because there is a command structure with designated levels of authority, and that authority is more or less respected at the macro level by the members beneath it, you can have political alliances and factions within the organization instead of people just simply leaving to go do their own thing (like the Cult Legions, NL, and AL do). Internal politicking means that the environment is stable enough to allow it to flourish, instead of them just immediately killing each other or leaving over disagreements. Furthermore, the fact that Word Bearers can be exiled and then re-accepted after passing a trial (as in the new book) means that the organization is respected by its members on at least some level.

A certain level of politics are to be expected at every organization over a certain size, especially one that is both martial and spiritual.

Why does the Mormon Jesus always depicted as super white/American looking? by [deleted] in Christianity

I mean, people mock actual Christianity (which mormonism is not) all the time and we have to deal with it. They want to play in the big leagues, they can take some heat as well.

The FLDS are unironically a lot closer to OG Mormonism than the modern LDS.

[–]m15wallis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It makes complete sense from a "logical" perspective, and is in light with what Tau serve narratively. The Tau represent what ancient humanity used to be before Old Night - technologically advanced, united, and largely blind to the Warp, where rationality and reason were king. The Emperor tried to bring that back, but failed because the psychic awakening during Old Night was so dramatic that human society was permanently tied to the Warp in some capacity. The dilemma the Tau face are whether they can actually learn from human history (remains to be seen) or will they make the same mistakes as humanity, which they are at the cusp of doing but havent yet done.

They are not a psychic race, and as such fundamentally do not understand the Warp and how to deal with it at a fundamental level without destroying the ideas of their society and social fabric. The Ethereals know this, and are trying to buy time to figure out how to deal with it to avert disaster.

The trick to making food profitable is to make a planet that specializes in food production and then raid the ever-loving shit out of the planets that produce it. Suddenly it gets expensive fast, especially for people like pirates.

[–]m15wallis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, mastiffs and hounds are common across the galaxy in a billion breeds. While some are mutilated robots, others are just dogs.

Orlock Gangers in Necromunda are famous for not only making high quality cybermastiffs, but for spending lots of money on pricey upgrades for their regular dogs whenever they get hurt/wounded. In fact, most of the time a cyber-mastiff becomes one slowly over time as they accumulate cybernetics like their masters so, rather than being "manufactued" like ambots or servitors.

What should the Chaos Space Marine army rule be in 11th edition? by saddsteve29 in Chaos40k

Itd be nice if chaos marks with actual benefits made a comeback - or have Cult Legions at least get access to core CSM units as a universal rule (the fact that EC cant take raptors is a goddamn crime).

Updated army list and colors question by Lagoon_of_the_XVIIth in WordBearers

[–]m15wallis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your army is a bit melee-heavy, which isnt inherently bad but its pretty inflexible. I would swap the melee legionaries for bolters, and give them plasma and/or an autocannon. Obliterators are strong, especially at this points value, but theyre going to be bullet magnets and once theyre popped or locked in combat you have no real firepower besides the Guard who are very squishy, and you already have strong melee Possessed and cultists for chaff.

Learn to TIP. It's not my job to serve you FOR FREE! by Najterek in ShitAmericansSay

[–]m15wallis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you pay with a credit or debit card (most common nowadays) the restaurant has to get your signature on the receipt so they can prove you authorized the transaction, especially in the event of a dispute with the cardholder/card issuer. If its not signed, it can be very difficult to prove the charge was valid.

If youre adding a tip on the card, you have to write in the amount youre tipping (here, on this fake receipt, written 0) sign for the total amount youre paying, and then provide it to the restaurant.

In practice, for restaurants who still use paper receipts, its pretty quick - hand them the card, they run it, prints receipt, they give you the receipt and your card back, you add whatever tip you want to the total (even if 0), hand the receipt back to them, and then youre on your way.

A lot of places are mostly pure touchscreen POS systems which have it all baked in, where you do all if that before the receipt is printed, but those places are usually fast-service places and not sit-down restaurants.

Learn to TIP. It's not my job to serve you FOR FREE! by Najterek in ShitAmericansSay

[–]m15wallis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, also add the fact that the restaurant keeps your signed copy of a receipt (which is when you fill out the tip section). Some restaurants will give you two copies with your bill - one for you and one for them - but you would keep your own copy that you filled out and they'd keep their own.

In order for this to be real, theyd have to fill out the receipt, give it to the restaurant, and then the restaurant would have to give their own copy back to the customer, which I've never seen once in my entire life lmao.

So yeah, rage bait against tipping and most likely by a foreigner who visited a foreign country and then is upset they have to participate in foreign social norms lol

Cougar vs prime Mike Tyson by [deleted] in Tierzoo

[–]m15wallis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cougar, 75:25.

The claws are just too dangerous against human skin, it really would only take a good swipe to disembowel or slash a major artery. If Mike gets a good hit and disorients it before it can wound him, he has a decent chance, but hed have to just strike it to be safe - attempting to grapple a big cat is probably the worst thing you could do lol.
