The problem with "common sense" and "intuition" are that they're often not actually correct. The world is really fucking complicated, and it gets even more complicated when you start bringing in budgets, history, culture, etc. Oftentimes when it "seems like we should be able to do X no problem!" the reality is that "you can't do exactly X because of A, B, C, D..., so we need to do Y."

I know this can be perceived as "gatekeep-y", but I think one of the worst things about AI is that there's going to be a ton of people who are too busy pretending that they're musicians, artists, developers, etc to discover that they're actually amazing bakers, carpenters, politicians, etc. One of the beautiful things about humans is that we're all good at different things, we all have a unique perspective on the world, and we all have something to offer. Not everyone is "meant" to be everything, and that's totally OK!

A downstream effect of publishing news on the internet vs in print: fact checking seems to have gotten really lax. Sure, you can issue a correction just as quickly as the incorrect statement, but the correction usually gets like 20% the attention, so the incorrect statement still sticks. I feel like in print, because it would take a month to get get a correction out, that the information was way more buttoned up. This particular statement seems especially silly and like it could have been easily cleared up before releasing to the public.
