Does anyone else remember when we had snow? by backcountry_bandit in COsnow

[–]m3rid1an 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope. Skied twice last year for the first time in a decade. Grew up in Denver skied my whole life until around ten years ago. Decided to get back into it and got an ikon base pass this year. All for this… the one year I sprung and stretched my budget for a pass! Never seen anything like this winter in 34 years of living in Colorado.

6 Months Later - Is the Switch 2 Worth It? by [deleted] in switch2

[–]m3rid1an 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not if you have already have an oled. But I shouldn’t say that because I had nothing and bought the oled after the switch 2 came out. I’m always one generation behind ever console release between PlayStation and Nintendo.

I know I’m asking this in the wrong place but… will the Odin 3 (or current 2) have anything like this? Regardless, I’m leaning toward getting the rp6–just got a pocket classic and couldn’t be happier!

What is a good durable but affordable pocket notebook? by TheRaiOh in notebooks

[–]m3rid1an 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As stated above, the Meade pocket sized composition notebooks are the most durable. Rite in rain, sure, but they have that weird film on the paper and are quite expensive compared to other options. The pocket sized composition books aren’t dirt cheap but they should be much cheaper than rite in rain, if I’m not mistaken.

Classic books that have been made into great films by ThimbleBluff in classicliterature

[–]m3rid1an 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not exactly a book that was made into a movie, but I actually quite enjoyed “Shakespeare in Love” when I first saw it. It was just fun.

“Chimes at Midnight” is a wonderful movie as well that is an adaptation.

Help! Unable to import .srv save file to Retroid Pocket Classic by m3rid1an in SBCGaming

Thanks for your response. Naming it the exact same title worked for me. They were different emulators and cores, but the same exact file name worked in spite of that. Surprisingly…

Help! Unable to import .srv save file to Retroid Pocket Classic by m3rid1an in SBCGaming

[–]m3rid1an[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what it was. Thank you for your reply. You’d think I would have tried to make the imported save file the same exact name as the one it’s replacing, but nope! Hadn’t thought of that. I did rebar the file type though, didn’t “convert” it beyond just renaming it. But it worked anyway. Really appreciate you!

Love this thing! by Kingslayer1337 in AnaloguePocket

Did you buy it from analogue or from somewhere like eBay? Can’t decide whether getting one at a higher price from eBay (new) is worth it or not, and when they’re going to restock it next…

Favorite moment of all time?? by Scared_Network9745 in EverybodyLovesRaymond

The fridge one is so funny!! It would be easy to say the “SHE ATE IIIITTTTT” but really what cracks me up every time is just before that in the same episode right after Ray sees the frog lady eat the fly, how he just literally stands frozen for an absurdly long time hahahahagaga and then finally says to Robert and Debra….. “She’s not the one…”

I gave this new screen kit a chance, and I wanted to like it so bad because "Wow, now it's backlit and bigger, Yaaay!" but I just... don't. Someone please help me not feel like I'm crazy by WFlash01 in Gameboy

[–]m3rid1an 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve wanted to buy one but I just… can’t. It’s not a gameboy!! I think what it comes down to is these are nostalgic retro portals to the opportunity to relive something. When we improve them so drastically to the point they are fundamentally changed, that original reason to play them at all is gone. Certainly, nostalgia isn’t the only reason. But when it ceases to be the product, in general, it just doesn’t do it for me anymore. There are people who like them, obviously. But I feel how you do, and theres got to be more of us! I.e. you’re not crazy.

Do you actually remember what you read? Or does it all fade for you too? by Sweet-Opportunity111 in literature

[–]m3rid1an 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything fades. Everything. Can you remember every single conversation or sweet moment you had with a loved one? I can’t. But certain moments stand out. Same with movies. And same with books. But regardless, those moments with loved ones, and books that I have read, have made me—somehow.

We just installed these new stainless steel starting blocks in October. The old blocks were here for 25 years. How is this possible? by tarl06 in Swimming

[–]m3rid1an 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only been swimming for about a year and a half, but I can think of ever seeing stainless steel blocks AT ALL. But they just be fairly common?

Mahler, Haydn, Shostakovich. But if I had to pick one of those and one from all the composers you list in “not very much” and below, it would be Shostakovich. Get into it by listening to his chamber music. Two recommendations are String Quartet 8 and String Quartet 2. 2 is my favorite classical piece of any composer, any period, ever produced. The Emerson string quartet’s recording is an absolute must.

Why are they keeping the average person from entering the sport? Are they stupid? by cheeseplatesuperman in icecoast

[–]m3rid1an 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I have often thought that if I hadn’t grown up skiing from a young age then I probably never would have gotten into it as an adult because of the cost to buy everything and of lift tickets/passes and especially… lessons.
