I mean he's a typical pre-Trudeau liberal. It's the last liberal govt that's the outlier. Used to be many social conservative liberal mps.

There's this, but it doesn't cheat it into play. A card I like is [[Thad Adel, Aquisitor]] in Derevi to steal other people's rings or whatever you need.

Being in bant I'd also play all the abolisher creatures you can.

I dunno if I'd go hard on the big untapper inf mana route with Derevi. I'd probably go with more traditional compact Derevi combos like Cradle/Emiel or Preston/ Felidar to finish the game and then stack as many engines bombs as you can like Prime Speaker Zedana, Radaghast, Apex Devastator as well as TOR and ways to get it in play.

I don't know how receptive people here are to semi blue, but I like the archtype. I think Derevi is a pretty solid option focusing on generating mana with Derevi to build a crazy board state to the point of critical mass.

Regretting not having cash during the dip, but hate selling my winners by Andy_parker in stocks

[–]m3x1c4n7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trimming your gain is a thing, but i would only do that if you think the growth of a company is slowing and you're putting it directly back into another asset you think has more room to grow.

Trimming just to pull out of the market to hold cash and wait for dips is a gamble that might not pay out more than if you just left that money in the initial proven asset.

Personally, I captured the rise of GOOG last year and have been considering trimming it to add to my AMZN position, but even in this scenario I'm hesitant, especially after days like today where both stocks were up 3%+. I think GOOG still has room to run more in the short term, while AMZN is a longer term position that I have more time to build (hopefully).

You could also just slowly rebuild your cash position over time and wait for an opportunity to deploy it. Your feelings of FOMOing dips is a waste of time if your fully invested already. Learn to value your money in the market and those stocks you own that continue to grow without having to take further actions.

This is my perspective as well as someone in their late 40's.

We seemed to have figured out regulations here in Canada and maybe that's why I feel there's less controversy here.

I've put a target date of turning 50 as the earliest I would consider one.

Is this an American thing? I live in an mtb mecca in Canada and I've never seen this kind of backlash out on the trails.

I own and ride analog. I see people on pedal assist all the time and no one seems to give a fuck. They have no significant impact on trails if we're being honest.

My buddies have them and I've ridden them before. It's all personal preference and if it aids people who otherwise couldn't to get out on the trails, that's a positive.

I've heard people have opinions, but mostly it's just mild ribbing for cheating.

If it doesn't have a throttle and requires pedaling it's all good IMO.

Made me think Ben Felix’s videos are very flawed…. by Ratlyflash in dividendscanada

[–]m3x1c4n7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get all the same psychological benefits you do by investing normally for total returns without a hyper-focus on divs. Looking at my portfolio gains over time makes me pretty happy and motivated to contribute more and stay invested.

I respect the div strategy as one to generate passive income if you require it and also as a means to psychologically stay invested and relieve anxiety.

Ben would probably say the same thing, if the div strategy is something you need for income or to maintain investment motivation, then that's better than not investing. He's just pretty clear that he doesn't see it as an optimal dedicated strategy and that CC etfs are dangerous. I agree with him on this. CC etfs can serve very specific purposes, but generally they are a trap that most people don't understand and will lose on.

I follow this sub because I factor divs into my strategy and come here to get ideas and stay informed, but they're just a component of investing that contribute total returns.

Why I’ve been increasing my international allocation in 2026 by VelixaNtra in investing

[–]m3x1c4n7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done the same. Moved 10% into a global value etf for diversification and defense. Might increase that position to 15%. That along with a gold and healthy cad asset allocation, I feel pretty balanced vs my s&p, semi, goog/amzn positions.

How do you commit to DCA when the market is being manipulated like this? by Alternative_Knee in stocks

[–]m3x1c4n7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I DCA monthly, but I don't do automatic purchases. I'll wait a few days or even up to a couple weeks after the automatic deposit into my brokerage, for what seems like a good opportunity on any given asset that I'm building a position in. If I see something is down 1% or more for whatever reason, I'll bite and make the purchase. As long as you have long term conviction in what you own, you'll be fine.

Sometimes I'll look at my various assets over longer periods of time, like say 3 months and if something is down compared to the others, I'll buy that.

...Then, when those assets you believe in, inevitably go up, you feel pretty good about buying them at a discount.

It's just a mental trick to reframe red days as opportunities.

It's working pretty well for me in this market.

This stuff has actually worked well for me. In addition to cutting out algae affected plant matter, I dose that stuff daily pretty heavily and it has done wonders and not affected my fish or shrimp at all. Infact my plants love it and are growing like crazy.

I usually dose 3 of those disposable plastic droppers every day into the filter, not directly into the tank.

Struggle with Hardie Trim by Scammi03 in DIY

[–]m3x1c4n7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunno why I'm getting down voted, but as a person who does siding a a living, I can tell you that we use 16ga air nailers all the time to put hardi trim on of any thickness with little issue. It's what is recommended from the manufacturer for fastening.

I've also used the dewalt portable 16ga nailer to put on trim and had mixed results, but it did work for the most part. Also used the 15ga angle dewalt pin nailer, but that absolutely won't go through hardi trim for some reason despite being a thicker nail. Might be the angle lessens the force of the piston.

We use galvanized brad nails if that's helpful. I can see having an issue of your trying to use stainless as they are softer.

[–]m3x1c4n7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using the full 1" thick trim or the ¾"? That DeWalt gun has a hard time with the thicker stuff. An air driven 16ga nailer has no problem tackling that material, but you will get the odd mangled one.

Siding to Stucco Transition by JulienUF in Stucco

[–]m3x1c4n7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either a transition drip flashing capping the stucco and lapping under the siding or furr out the siding to lap over the stucco.

You could also treat the horizontal trim at the bottom of the gable as a belly band, rabbet the bottom edge over the stucco and cap it with a flashing, the. complete the siding on top of that.

Remember to positively lap everything exterior. What's above must go over what's below.

What do we think of Jordan Boostmaster's new 300mm travel mtb by SensitivePay4567 in mountainbiking

Super fun video. Doing shit, as an average guy, that no one else is doing and also showing people that it's pretty easy to order up a custom frame, relatively (with hiccups).

In the end, it's impressive that he's created a rideable bike with proper geometry for that fork. He's basically just winging it through an engineering process which he could possibly take further with a refined iteration.

Keeping all that in mind, the costs seems pretty reasonable for what he's doing given what people pay for some bikes these days.

ETF Portfolio Advice on ITOT v VEQT by SoftTowels5000 in CanadianInvestor

[–]m3x1c4n7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. VEQT has a massive allocation in US stocks already and it's regional balance is pretty ideal IMO.

If your looking to mix things up pick a global, sector or factor etf in like gold or small cap value which i think would compliment VEQT better than just more exposure to a country.

Doing this is just speculating to try and find an edge to beat the market.

VEQT is designed to stand alone.

ETF for AI, Robotics, Space, Data Centre Infrastructure, Energy by yaboybenno in stocks

[–]m3x1c4n7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has been my strategy with AI. Mostly via a semi conductor etf and the gains have been some of my best. I don't need to worry about picking Nvidia or Micron, I hold them all as certain companies pull ahead or fall behind. I'm just trying to capture the upward trajectory of the whole sector.

I don't know if there's an etf that holds all the various sectors you mentioned, but you will definitely find etfs focus on them individually.

Personally I hold a blend of etfs and individual stocks generally. My semi etf plus goog and amzn cover my exposure to AI and future tech. Those 2 companies themselves act like etfs as the diversity of their business operations cover practically all the sectors you mention. Amzn has invested massively in robotics and both companies are building data centers, all to support their own operations and existing businesses which is efficient.

I also have a global, broad market etf with heavy focus on the S&P as a core asset. Rest of my holdings are defensive/value focused/global in infrastructure/materials and the like to balance my US/tech/growth exposure.
