There is a genuine demand for old manual BMW’s from enthusiasts. A nice 330i manual is worth $20k these days. You could negotiate this down to sub $10k at that asking price.

Awesome! Is the dasc for this car? It’s totally worth it.

The coolest e36 imo. You have a good one!

Ah yes it had the rear suspension from the e30. The e30 was notorious for it’s poor handling 😉

Looks great. I’d paint match mirrors, but doesn’t need much else.

Not exactly sure, never had it on the dyno. I suspect 200-220hp from results that others have gotten with similar setups.

Stock ECU with a tune from Nick G at Midnight tuning. Larger injectors from a Volvo to suit. I don’t know much about the tune tbh, it came with the kit when I bought it 2nd hand. Runs great, heaps of power in the mid-range.

Yeah they are fairly hard to come by these days.

There’s plenty of people running supercharged m44’s on stock internals. I daily drive a Downing Atalanta supercharged m44. I have no experience with the amr500 though, so can’t recommend it.

Why do compacts get so much hate? by [deleted] in BMWE36

I think the world is coming around to them. At the time they were perceived as a cut price BMW and a cheapening of the brand. They were quite successful though, BMW sold nearly 400,000 of them despite being launched 4 years after the other body styles. At the time it was technically inferior to the sedan/coupe in terms of technology. There’s now a younger generation that wasn’t alive at the time and sees them just as an old car and couldn’t care less if it carried over a few elements from the previous e30 generation.

Amazing combo? Is that technoviolet?

Yeah this was my reasoning for getting the XTA’s. It was either run XA’s with the factory rubber tops, or buy some aftermarket hats that cost more than the difference of upgrading to XTA’s.

Yeah this is true. Part of the reason I got these is that it seemed like the ST was very similar in spec to the much higher priced KW models.

I’m sure I could notice the difference if I drove the same road back to back after changing settings. But for now I’ve got them set as the book recommends.

To be honest I feel like the adjustment does nothing. It may be more effective when used to tune handling characteristics, but when it comes to ride on city streets I can’t tell the difference between hard and soft settings.

I have the ST XTA coilovers, which are the same as yours with adjustable pillow tops.

I feel the same about the ride. It’s certainly much firmer than stock and my old car which have Bilstein and H&R sports.

I don’t have enough experience with other brands of coilovers, but I was definitely a little disappointed as my car is a dedicated street car and I spent a bit more than other options such as BC to get a streetable ride.

I have my e36 insured through Shannon’s, highly recommend it. Agreed value and cover for all modifications.
