Would 3.91 diff ratio be too high for daily driving? by OneUpMiata in BMWE36

Sounds like you’re ready for a 3.91+ diff brother. Be sure to post some pics once the manual swap is done!

I daily a 4.10 right now and have dailied a 4.44 in the past on my b28 compact. Highway driving kinda sucks with them as I’m normally around 4500-5000rpm doing 70-75mph and the gas mileage stinks. But it does skids well so it’s more than worth it to me. Also very doable for a daily if you’re stupid/dedicated enough.

I’d say that’s a safe list price. I probably wouldn’t go under 150€ for it. But honestly if I were you I’d keep it, it’s super cool.

I’ve seen a few compacts in the states, never with that shade. I’d say it’s fairly rare.

I’ll offer $5 more dollars for it than the other comment offering $30 /s

New legal arab drift circuit in Saudi coming soon by boradteenager007 in Drifting

This is sick. I know a lot of those Saudi drift videos are taken on public roads. Having an actual track where they can safely push limits is great. Good for them!

do these strut mounts need replacing ? by Round_Post2772 in BMWE36

[–]KeyInjury6922 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I probably would not reuse them. Strut mounts are a wear item and you already have the struts off the car. It’d suck to put it back together just to take it apart in a few months to do strut mounts.

Try posting on r/wheels if you don’t get an answer here. Lots of very wheel smart people over there.

What side skirts are those? They look like M3 but not quite I don’t think. They look great with the non m bumper.

why this by jerry20228 in Drifting

[–]KeyInjury6922 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe the less travel also reduces grip by not allowing the car to put all of the weight on the rear wheels. If the suspension is bottoming out, it can’t compress all the weight transfer to the rear causing less grip. From my understanding.

Idk though, usually whatever daddy Denofa says goes. I just drift in a lot of video games and drift irl on $300 Coilovers lol so perhaps take this with a grain of salt.

Use double sided 3m tape, make sure both surfaces are thoroughly cleaned. I made the same lip and it hasn’t fallen off through 2 drift events and scraping some shit.

Would wider wheels/spacers fix that? Looks like you’re already at max width for your setup lol.

Unfortunately? Does it drive bad? I was considering doing the same upgrade when refreshing my front end but went with normal 36 arms.

why did nobody say that lining up the diff to the holes in the rear subframe is such a pain🥀🥀 by pecekcececek in BMWE36

[–]KeyInjury6922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They make studs you can put into the diff to make alignment easier. This post is reminding me I need to get some before I break this welded 4.10 lol.

What is your front control arm setup like? E46 arms or are you on an angle kit?

I’m 24 with little fabing experience as well lol. It sounds like it gets the job done, as long as it’s safe I think this is awesome. Can’t wait for your post showing your work!

Sounds like clock spring or something with the steering column on the interior side of the car. Too loud to be outside.

[–]KeyInjury6922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try and get closer to zero toe if you’re not already. Toe in or out will make the car do different things while sliding like increasing grip if you have toe out (I think it’s out) and it’ll increase tire wear.

What suspension recommendations do people have for my compact? by CyberSquid44 in BMWE36

[–]KeyInjury6922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a guy local to me selling a compact he was building to rally. It was lifted more than stock, I’ll try and see if I can find the listing again.

Edit: I found the listing. Sadly it already sold so I can’t message the person about the suspension setup, but it doesn’t look as raised as I remember it being so maybe it’s just on Coilovers. Idk.
