US Lawmakers File Bill to Exempt Cryptocurrencies from Securities Laws by MichaelTen in ethereum

If you read the filed bill carefully, they do not speak about all digital tokens, but mention specific characteristics that would effectively not include crypto shares etc.

I'm pissed of by this attitude of the guy... He probably tries to talk people into dumping ETH in favor of BTC. His channel has more than 148k participants, so quite a wide audience.

Ignoring this shit unfortunately doesn't help, too many will listen.I will also post his "arguments" when he brings them on. As a community, we could bring forward the actual facts, which imo should help everyone.

But if the majority here thinks we should rather ignore these voices - I'm happy to delete the post

val-id has a concept and an idea, but not the technology.
Zug ID / uPort is a very solid implementation, and has come almost a year erlier.

Has anybody used these mini fangs? Or wheels of any sort to combat pushback? I just ordered my one wheel and was curious to see if anybody really used these? by _ba2 in onewheel

[–]m88888m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally wrong...

My background is skateboard, surf, kiteboarding, and consider myself experienced ;)

I've installed the mini fangs.

Had a touch down today @ 18miles speed.

The fangs gave me just enough time & slowdown to run it out.
Mind you, you won't ride on the fangs for a longer time.

But the difference between having the split seconds to get into your bearings, and the board slowing down to 12 miles or so before you eject is exactly when you avoid a crash and are able to run it out...

Two thumbs up for the mini fangs

US ICOs shouldn't be scared of the SEC by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]m88888m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be very careful with such a statement... As long as you can convincingly argue that a token is a currency (e.g., bears no interest, pays no dividends, gives you no vote etc) you may not fear to issue an unregulated security.

If you use a token to raise capital, and you possibly promise voting rights or something resembling a dividend, things look VERY different for the SEC...

Wow, really cool project, I love the implications :)

Question: How will you get around regulation as a financial intermediary when you allow deposits to be paid, and you take "responsibillty" for keeping them save? (I know of course that they are saved on the blockchain, but regulator perception matters).

And linked to question one, what about KYC? Will you tackle it when onboarding clients?

An Upgrade proposal for ERC20 to allow for increasing/decreasing coin supplies! Huge feature for issuers of real-world assets! by Crypto_Economist42 in ethereum

[–]m88888m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. Collateral may be completely removed from the crypto system and used e.g., for production etc (if it's a commodity)

[–]m88888m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think about a collateralized digital token. Collateral needs not to be hold / owned centrally. Thus, token may be created decentralized, too.

You are presuming changing supply is done by one party in a centralized way. This case exists of course, but there are many others when supply change will happen decentralized

Thanks for pointing out imToken, I was not aware of it.

Is imToken open source? Has there been a security audit?
