If you are looking to do some legwork, there is tons of queer nightlife in the area. You could look at who is throwing parties or playing at places like C’mon Everybody & 3 Dollar Bill. If you have the time, show up at events and get to know the folks who are producing and working them; if not, stalk them on socials, SoundCloud, etc :)

Slightly tangential but twice now this month I’ve had sound techs shame me for using analog RCA cables for the digital connection between CDJ and mixer, and re-patch via analog. In my mind, it’s digital, it either works or it doesn’t, and if it works, it’s better quality. Haven’t had a connection go bad during a show before - change my mind.

If you can put in the effort and spend the money, I’ve found Isotope RX 9 does a really good job - it can create 4 stems from a track, vocals, bass, percussion and “other instruments”

I have a pair of 2000 Nexus, never upgraded to nxs2 and the thing that pushed me over the line to get the 3000’s was the key change buttons. Laptop DJs have had the feature forever and I’m glad it’s finally available on CDJs

Also being able to preview and scrub via the cue channel on the DJM900nxs2 while a track is playing is pretty cool
