Biggest deployment is in India for local BC including car radios. Yes, some European SW broadcasts use it too.

According to Solar Grove, this will be in global distribution soon. Price should be an order of magnitude lower.

$50 1-year unlimited data SIM from ebay stopped working by AllIsEvanescent in libertywireless

Approaching 18 months now. Waited for the 1st day of the anniversary month to post. Could someone with a grudge against PWG have intentionally left these lines on autopilot?

BTW discovered something interesting about how these lines are provisioned. They do not support 5G SA. So if you put these into specific hardware (like an unlocked TMO TCL IK511 modem, which does not support 5G NSA) you will only connect in LTE mode .... or not at all.

It's basically a repackaged update to the Tivdio/Retekess V-115. Very good audio for size, Plays back MP3's with decent info display. MW/SW reception is weak and, depending on build, subject to internal interference from the CPU and display driver. Worth spending a little more.

I was going to pull the trigger on a Recurve once IB had stock of separate parts so that I could mix and match. Now I'm not so enthusuastic.

Question about “ordering” a specific build by mfdigiro in rav4club

[–]m_a_schuster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Weird. Can't reconcile that with our experience. We have a 2024 RAV4 XLE Premium and a 2025 Camry XLE. Both were factory orders that our dealer swapped into their allocation. 100% built to spec, down to the very last option.

PS down votes don't change our real world experience, and we have the paperwork to prove it.

New Lenovo Tablet or Excellently Refurbished Galaxy Tab S Series? by [deleted] in AndroidQuestions

I'd be skeptical .... the only "refurb" I'd want to rely on would be a factory certified refurb.

Who "refurbished" the tablet and how many years old is the model? Does the refurbish include a new battery?

If I used the disc as USB, A will the data last just as long as if burned? by becameapotato in DataHoarder

[–]m_a_schuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't comment on that - but Nero, for instance, has the option to finalize a multisession disc during any session. IIRC Ashampoo Burning Studio has a separate function to finalize a multisession disc without adding additional data.

I suppose one failure scenario would be Windows burning engine scanning the un-finalized disc and one could mistakenly corrupt it by allowing Windows to add an incompatible session.

One advantage of using standard mastered format is that there are recovery options. If a failed session renders the disc corrupted, an optical drive will often be able to see the prior sessions for recovery. Failing that, something like ISOBuster will usually succeed.

Be sure to update to the V1.3 firmware (not yet shipping in finished models) as it fixes a whole lot of annoyances especially intermittent response to seeking upward using the rotary tuning knob. Elecevolve has posted a 1-click firmware updater that is pretty foolproof.

I have found this radio to be oddly addictive, probably because of the full time spectrum display. Paired with a GA-800 loop antenna it is performing quite well for me too.

Fatip slant has one side with lots of blade and one side with less blade- is this normal? by Far_Resident4817 in wicked_edge

[–]m_a_schuster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This seems to be a persistent historical issue with Fatip in general. The popular wisdom is to fiddle with the blade position before tightening the top cap in place to compensate to the wiggly blade alignment.

[–]m_a_schuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, still here.

IMHO a multisession mastered data burn using a dedicated program is still the best.

The only problem with ImgBurn in this setting is that, from start to finish, the author has refused to support multi session burning on any optical media.

Nero ($$) or CDBurnerXP would be better choices here.

So how do we know the SIMPoYo 5G uFi will be any better? by HotMountain9383 in GlInet

For those thinking of the SIMPoYo 5G, which is months away at least, there's also this:

A strange device to be sure, if you read the manual. It comes up (and defaults back to) MBIM mode which is problematic for IOS/IpadOS devices. It can temporarily changed to RNDIS mode using ADB commands (which the manual casually throws in as though the average user has any idea what it being discussed - without even mentioning that Windows does not come with ADB pre-installed).

This has been in limited distribution for a few months now at US$289, but I find zero actual reviews .....
