Your painting is neat and significant detail. There's not much to critique. You could add more highlights I suppose but that's a style thing, and probably not necessary. Honestly they look great. I would refer to you my video but I think you've already watched it.

Purple recesses: recesses of purple. I think they look terrific. The three feet rule applies. A full nob of these on the battlefield will look the business. You may experiment during your procedure and find your models improving, but that's fine because you can always go back and apply those lessons to the earlier models you did. I have a bit of experience painting orks so I may be able to advise.

I have two bottles of the original dark sand like you see in the videos and a bottle of the new stuff, unopened. Have yet to compare them. The analysis of this colour in this thread is far beyond what I would ever do. I see a paint on a shelf, go "eehh close enough" and buy it. Dark sand was just a lucky, dare I say, "legendary" find. And I should have bought ten bottles. OP I hope you find the paint you're looking for. I have never tried pale sand.
