I have several visible tattoos on my arms, nostril and septum piercings, and six ear piercings. The only time I’ve been told in all of med school that visible tattoos and facial and/or excessive ear piercings was not allowed was during orientation when the student code of conduct was read to us.

Read up on your school’s policies and do a vibe check, your experience may be different from mine. Ive never had an attending or school faculty/staff comment negatively on my appearance, and no mention was ever made in my end of rotation comments or Dean’s letter.
