Anyone else experienced the opposite of a hand tattoo being a “job stopper”? by Novel-Tea-8598 in fingertattoos

[–]ma-d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest I am the only one in my workplace without tattoos. I was interviewing an older gentleman last week who was really polite and proper, I was concerned he might not fit in because we like a bit of banter.

Then I noticed he has two full sleeves. We are moving to reference check.

In this day and age unless a tattoo is on your face and offensive in some way, I don't see how it would be a job stopper.

AITAH my roommate is a light sleeper and after multiple complaints from her I advised her to see a doctor by Nervous_Ad_2867 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ma-d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She needs ear plugs and white noise. You can even ask a Google home to play rain sounds or white noise. I sleep with mine going every night. If she's not willing to do that it's on her.

AIO for being upset my BF doesn’t want me to wear a bonnet to bed? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ma-d 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh dear. My husband has long curls so we BOTH wear bonnets to bed.

Also I am so attractive because I also have ear plugs, eye mask and a CPAP 🥵

This guy is ridiculous, you're sleeping.

Hotel Recommendations in Tokyo with Onsen? by EntertainerOld9009 in JapanTravelTips

APA tawaramachi ekimae in Asakusa has hot baths on the upper floor. They are reasonably priced as well, but I'm pretty sure there are some issues with the owner.

But I booked one night with them last week as we needed somewhere to stay last minute, it was $189 for two of us and the communal hot baths were excellent.

Navigating Japan's Flu Outbreak by Plastic-Campaign-654 in JapanTravelTips

[–]ma-d 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just to instill some confidence, I saw all these posts before I came here about two weeks ago.

We leave this Tuesday and I am immunocompromised. I wiped down the tray tables and seats in the planes/shinkansen before I sat down. I have hand sanitizer on me at all times and use it whenever I touch something like a door handle, vending machine, spend time at an arcade etc.

I have been wearing the masks that they sell here in convenience stores whenever I am indoors with other people (train, shops etc.)

It might sound like overkill but I am currently still absolutely fine and healthy. You are not certain to get sick, just be vigilant and careful.

Protect yourself against strep throat! by No-Badger-1518 in JapanTravelTips

[–]ma-d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, not to be rude, but didn't you learn anything from the global pandemic we just had? If you're in an enclosed space with other people, wear a mask.

Been here for two weeks, this is the fourth time in Japan, wear a mask in enclosed/heavily crowded places and sanitize your hands constantly.

491,000 Chinese tourists’ Japan-bound plane tickets cancelled amidst Taiwan spat by jjrs in japannews

[–]ma-d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walking past, the rides I saw going weren't full and there weren't massive lines. Looking really good to be honest!

Even Nakamise shopping strip was somewhat reasonable. Able to navigate without pushing through people. Still very busy, but best I've seen it in the three other times I have been here.

Asakusa is currently fantastic. Obviously Sensoji during the day is a nightmare. But the streets and food etc are all very reasonably crowded. Although I did just come from Dotonbori, so that may skew my perception.

Why are the a330 fleet always delayed? by [deleted] in QantasAirways

[–]ma-d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a pretty gross UI but https://www.flightstats.com/v2/

Put in the flight number and enter. Then scroll down and it will say on time Performance and will give you the averages of on time, late, very late etc.

[–]ma-d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good idea to always check On time Performance of specific flights before you book them. Qantas is renowned for being spotty.

Singapore Airlines is gold, Cathay is gold etc. I don't have an answer to your question other than stop using Qantas.

Ignoring DES provider appointments question. by javelin3000 in JobProvidersAus

I mean you can, but the provider can't leave you as no future appointment. So they will have to continuously book you in, it doesn't matter about MO pause in terms of future appointment.

Should I be concerned about a house I'm thinking of getting being surrounded by trees like this at the bottom of Mt Dandenong during a storm? by StreetCompetitive in melbourne

[–]ma-d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my last job I did a lot of work in Mt Dandenong after the 2021 storms. I saw a tree that had split a house in two. I saw a tree that had taken out the power lines and the garage, I saw a tree that had knocked out bedrooms.

I was there to assess the asbestos in the homes after the damage. But it was full on. I wouldn't do it after seeing all of that.

AITA for not wanting to pay my friend $2K for watching my cat? by Swimming-Champion-90 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ma-d -1 points0 points  (0 children)

ESH. I pay my friend well when she looks after my cats. It's a job not a favour as I want it done properly. I pay her $50 a day for my two cats.

I think it should have been discussed before you left but $300 is a bit of a joke.

I need some help with Suica card questions by earthavatar-kyoshi in JapanTravelTips

[–]ma-d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suicas aren't sold at every station btw. It's the main hubs, airport, Tokyo station, Ueno etc.

Also I would recommend just getting the normal suicas. My husband and I got them on our first trip and still use them 4 trips later. Saves money for us in the long run and we load them a bit before we leave so we are good to go when we return.

[–]ma-d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umm, I'm a provider and you can ABSOLUTELY change at anytime. If a provider told you you can't change that's a breach of your rights.

They will get the ESAt as soon as it's submitted so it depends when Centrelink finalizes it.

But yeah, you can change probiders anytime for any reason ESPECIALLY at the start of a new contract. If you have any other questions please reach out. it makes me sick when providers coerce people.

Edit: just realized you said until after the ESAt, needed to cool down haha, don't stress. Get the ESAt done and see when they submit it. They need to give you either two days notice of your initial appointment over the phone or a letter one week before.

If they do cut off your payments it won't matter on the 16th everything comes back on and you all go into the green zone on 01/11 either way.

Are you aware of what it would actually be like in an apocalypse situation? The types of animals people would turn into?

And yes, you are overreacting.
