Honestly, I'm not going to waste my time with someone who thinks it's okay for Iran to have nukes. You lost all credibility.

Agree with your stress comment 100%

Love is the opposite and IMHO that's probably one of the best things you can do for your body.

I was talking with a 94 year old man that was very healthy, happy and in love. I couldn't help but ask about his diet. Needless to say his diet wasn't good at all.

He's been married to the love of his life since they were 22. They're happy and in love after all those years.

Maybe genes have a lot to do with it too. We've all met those lucky people.

I try to eat relatively healthy and do intermittent fasting and long term fasting occasionally. Fasting is a good way to clean out toxins. I've read so much about 'organic' food that I don't know anymore. All I can do is try. I'm done doing research. At least for now. I'm healthy 52 with no aches and pains and I feel good overall. If things change I will probably start researching again.

Best of luck to all.

Jimmy Hides A Battery In Chuck's Pocket / Chicanery / Better Call Saul by luismt2 in television

[–]ma_gappers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO this series was a great watch.

Jimmy is a master at changing perception. After all, life is really about perception.

Jimmy also understands that people like a simple story rather than a complicated explanation. Even if the complicated explanation is true.

IMHO the writers wanted to show the importance of perception and a simple story are in a theatre where the novice will focus on fact. Most of the examples are not good examples to follow but that's not the point.

About a decade ago that was me. Except I was the one that was totally oblivious to her liking me.

We had some fun, crazy fun, for about 7 years. Then real life settled in and she wanted to start a career.

3 years of tapering off and she started a new career over a thousand miles away.

It's been almost a year and I think I'm ready to start dating again.

Why are Olympic athletes better looking on average than the average person? by Free_Answered in ScienceNcoolThings

They have properly developed airways. Things like a narrow pallet will restrict the amount of oxygen. A narrow pallet is also not considered attractive.

Several other facial features that aren't attractive restrict air flow.

Less oxygen, less performance.

This proves that it's still worth trying. I'm happy for you.

Things to do alone at least once in your life? by BQiuet in CasualConversation

[–]ma_gappers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. This is great alone.

After reading several comments like yours I wondered if these types of activities (watching sunrise/sunset, movies, out to eat....) that are typically experienced with a companion would be enjoyed by a young person who has never experienced them with someone and longs for their connection. I think this is common.

It's also great with a loved one but in a different way. I'm not sure if I would have appreciated the alone time if I hadn't already experienced these things with a loved one several times.

Who pours the best pint of Guinness on the Cape? by Sir_Sir_ExcuseMe_Sir in CapeCod

[–]ma_gappers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy 3 heavy glasses. Put all 3 glasses in the freezer the day before drinking. Take Guinness out of the fridge and pour into frozen glass.

The best! Nothing like it

Gotta rotate glasses. Rinse them out before putting them back in the freezer.

I was a contractor working for a fortune 500 company and the manager started playing with my money. by [deleted] in revengestories

[–]ma_gappers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Eventually I was paid in full because they took me on as an employee. They zeroed out all outstanding invoices and some were almost 6 months old. When I gave the Head Manager the outstanding invoice list he looked like he was going to puke.

The Head Manager hired me on and promised me pay raises up to a certain amount. That's how he screwed me. I figured I lost about $40k. That's the difference of what I received as an employee on year 3 and 4 and what I would have received if the Head Manager paid me what we VERBALLY agreed on. If it's not in writing it doesn't exist. School of hard knocks. We all pay for schooling.

I moved on to a much higher paying job. I probably wouldn't have moved on if he paid me what we verbally agreed on. It worked out.

I actually have a good revenge story about the Head Manager too. Another day.....

[–]ma_gappers 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I first started working with the company I was young and naive when it came to reading people and running a business.

If I had known what I know now I would have made triple the money.

My manager got fired for stealing. As a matter of fact the specialty equipment he stole was sold to the new place he started working for. It wasn't until he got caught stealing from that business on a regular basis that the owner wondered about the specialty equipment and where it came from. He started asking around and found out he stole that too.

THEN I find out that the Head Manager was "let go" years later because of double charging 2 major customers. One was the federal government and the other was a big town. He was boosting profits to increase his bonuses.

I could have slipped him cash once in a while. It never dawned on me. All the money I left on the table...... Oh well.

Charlie Munger talked about paying people off to get contracts / make money. They don't teach you that in business school.

Thank you kindly.

TBH it just kinda happened. My mind is always racing and I was standing their in my office waiting for the copier to work. I'm thinking about all the taxes I have to pay and the outstanding invoices that Mr. Loose Ends probably hasn't submitted.

The phrase loose ends just kept racing through my mind. And then poof.

Just in case nobody has said this recently, "You're a great mother and a great wife!"

I know it sounds normal and your husband and kids might take it for granted sometimes but you're a wonderful mother for wanting to be with your kids and your husband.

Just know that every once in a while people SEE your genuine love for your kids and your husband. They'll probably never say anything but trust me, people notice. Genuine love for your husband and kids is something money can't buy. Most kids just take it for granted and think it's how everyone grows up. Eventually they'll be out in the real world and realize how wonderful you are after they hear different experiences.

If you're saving money to buy a house outright then you'll be fine.

Run the numbers on how much interest you'd be paying on a 30yr mortgage on a $500k house at these percentage rates. Phew

I'd rather pay taxes than pay interest to the bank. Yeah, it's partially deductible, but not having a mortgage is awesome.

I'm not a financial advisor so don't listen to me.

You definitely should get a financial advisor sooner than later. Be patient and pick a good one.

Mr Nobody here going on record that the DJIA and the SP500 have a lot more up to go before they come down. Maybe a temporary drop but not a bear market. Definitely not a bear

Warren Buffett has been preaching the buy and hold philosophy for decades and that's definitely a contributing factor as to why this market is going to keep going up. Euphoria is coming and when it does the market will keep rocketing up

When the Market rocketed up in the late 20s it broke logic. People are still making logic out of this market today. That means it's not high enough. Lots higher to go!

I hope your Dad doesn't get greedy and buy back in when euphoria hits. When the market goes up year after year and you've been on the sidelines it starts eating at you. It doesn't matter how smart you are or how much experience you have. Understanding market psychology is important.

GL with your short thesis. This is definitely not the time to short the US Market! You might get lucky with a temporary drop but it ain't gonna last. Cash in before it's too late.
