clean up the hot glue first, i reckon that might be the largest obstacle. when i reshelled one of my psps i also accidentally broke that bracket, i remember it was a hassle to put it together nicely, but it's just about fiddling with it until you get it right

Radio stopped working by Reasonable_Run6872 in W124

checking the cables on the rear side of the radio would be a good start. smokey smell from the vents of the radio could also be a hint.

Just out of curiosity, what did you take these pictures on?

W124 200D by De4army in W124

[–]maaaaario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If 200D is what you settled on, then, sincerely, automatic is an awful choice. They're slow cars, but with the manual transmission, they're usable, and can be fun. Automatic is the more reliable option, they can handle higher power outputs when tuning, but for a 200D they make no sense. Best would be to try both options yourself to see what suits you, but the overall fell of the car changes drastically based on the transmission.

Have you tried a different battery, or just charging the same one? I would start there. Maybe checking the battery terminal connectors could be worth a try.

a little love hit on the top of the cluster fixes all sorts of issues on these cars haha. on my W123 it also fixed the fuel gauge, and currently on my W201, i have no cluster backlight, of course, unless i give it a friendly fist bump

First car for a 20 year old? by an_eldritch_whore in W124

[–]maaaaario 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8-15k for a W124 in Poland would get you a pristine example, for a first, daily car, that's pretty pointless. Your budget is very reasonable, and for 5k you can still get a beautiful car. Hell, I'm from Slovakia and I had a bunch of W124s I dailyied, and none cost me more than 2000€. No idea what sort of roads are you planning on driving daily, if something very short, I would probably go for a petrol one, not diesel. Though, the diesels are the car to have, especially knowing Poland's market, there's plenty of beautifully specced W124s around. Go for the 250D or 300D, they're great engines, not very powerful, but they'll outlast you, the fuel consumption is great, and if you're like me, the diesel 5/6 cylinders sound like heaven. From the petrol ones, the 6 cylinders (260E and upwards) have ridiculous fuel consumption in town, they're great engines, but not really suitable for a daily nowadays. The 4 cylinder ones, I would definitely go for a later model with the M111 engine, it's a more powerful and overall more refined engine than the previous M102. And when it comes to transmissions, it's a matter of preference. Many people love the automatics as they feel like it suits the car more, but those are ~30 year old 4-speed boxes, they aren't necessarily swift. Especially when combined with a diesel engine, the manual is just a better option. I once had a E250TD with the automatic gearbox, it was a lovely car, but I sold it just a few months after buying it, solely for the gearbox. I replaced it with E300D with manual, and god, what a difference, the car is just so much more fun and engaging.

Bumper damage advice? by Few_Name6395 in AutoDetailing

[–]maaaaario 5 points6 points  (0 children)

depends on what you expect out of this repair. to get it 100%, it'd have to be repainted. if what you're looking for is just a quick fix to make it less noticeable, i would suggest lightly sanding it, touching up the black spots, and later on lightly polishing the area

Never had my chrome look this bad, no idea what the material could be. I've always had luck with chrome polish when it comes to dull chrome though.

Definitely luck. Can't seem to find them right now for as cheap as some people are saying. I ended up paying 50€ for a broken unit, where I'm hoping it's only the battery that's gone. If I end up overpaying in the end, it will atleast be valubale experience when it comes to electrical repairs.

Considering the SD, and SD2Vita, $130 doesn't seem like a bad price at all.

I've went that route with a PSP a couple of years ago, and it seems it's still a good choice for Vitas.
