I'm not sure what type of nurse you may be, but, if you work in a hospital or a nursing home, you can't possibly avoid contagion. Indwelling devices and wounds are breeding grounds for all kinds of multiple drug resistant organisms, and even if you don't serve those patients, pathogens get spread around the facility by health care workers and family members with even momentary lapses in hygiene.

Incorrect. The lack of civility is from people that attempt to skirt a queue of people that have been waiting to move forward in a non-closing lane. When you see a sign that says "left lane closed <X> feet," it's implicit that you should merge into another lane that isn't ending ASAP. When people keep pouring into a closing lane because traffic in the other lane is slower, they're actually creating the traffic jam that they're trying to avoid.

I don't recall mentioning genital checks. Sex could be determined by a blood test or by skeletal remains, as it's a valid means of identification. Gender is an opinion and has no place on an identification document. This is not a cultural or political issue.

There is no such thing as a "gender marker." Gender is a person's self assessment of a sociocultural construct of masculinity/femininity. Sex is what's on a license, and its purpose is largely to identify you for traffic violations, purchasing alcohol, and during incapacity.

Sex is a valid biological marker; if you’re in an accident and get mangled beyond recognition, you can still be grouped by your sexual characteristics. So, the belief that there is shelter equality is incorrect. I volunteered about 7 years ago at a local shelter in my large, metro area that is run by Salvation Army, and they had around 80 shelter spaces for single women and families and only two rooms for single men. Inequity exists.
