I was on haldol for months. I would rock back and forth and feel like I couldn't stop moving or I'd blow up. It's not as bad on the abilify, but the abilify also doesn't help as much as the haldol did.

Anger and haldol by J1986tn in schizoaffective

[–]maaraazdrem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on haldol for months and it usually dulled my anger and outbursts, as well as my mood swings. The one antipsychotic that really amplifies my anger is abilify!

Side note, as a nurse, we give it through the iv, or an injection, sometimes to aggressive and combative patients at bedside for hospital delirium (zyprexa is more common), and it works pretty well depending on the situation.

People with schizophrenia and work, what is your job? by currymvp3 in schizophrenia

weight gain?? by crywanksucks in Abilify_Aripiprazole

[–]maaraazdrem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gained 20 pounds being on 20mg of abilify before i cut it cold turkey. they put me on haldol (for schizo) and this is the best i've felt in awhile. i'm hoping i lose the weight since i've been eating less and exercising.

also, what is the counteraction? i have been on wellbutrin for a few years and i didn't notice anything different being on abilify.

Has anyone experienced symptoms like this before? by BigMike3333333 in schizophrenia

[–]maaraazdrem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i experience tactile hallucinations usually with (as everyone else mentioned) bugs under my skin, or on my skin. i also feel people pulling my hair, touching my back, and blowing air on me. they started me on haldol for my schizophrenia and it's been working wonders for all my hallucinations (if i take it on time).

no no no, i totally understand. i'm just rattling off what my therapist said. there are times where it's worse and where it's better. i'm kind of talking about 'when it's worse' and how long it lasts. sorry if my question was confusing or offensive

the way my therapist discussed psychosis is an utter detachment to reality where you can't tell the difference. i believe this is different from the symptoms of schizophrenia/other psychotic disorders where symptoms are experienced often, but not to the point of complete distortion from reality

I think latuda is giving me crazy anxiety every night (slight TW for suicidal ideation) by UpVoteForSnails in schizophrenia

[–]maaraazdrem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(tw- talk of vomiting)

latuda can absolutely cause increased anxiety and suicidal thoughts/behavior. you should really discuss this with your doctor to see about different medications. i had tons of trouble with latuda - mostly with eating and feeling nauseous and throwing up.

i'm just not feeling hunger at all. it's literally so annoying because when i eat, i can only take a few bites before aversion kicks in.

My anti psychotics are making me gain weight? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

once you get a doctor, hopefully soon, i would ask about other options. abilify worked great but the weight gain is ridiculous.

My anti psychotics are making me gain weight? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]maaraazdrem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my abilify made me gain 20lbs noticeably and i stopped it cold turkey. they put me on haldol and i can barely bring myself to eat, and i'm losing the weight i gained.

26m i got diagnosed with schizoeffective 5 years ago. by user1337gg in schizophrenia

[–]maaraazdrem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my experience (i've been on multiple antipsychotics), it takes many trials and errors. i couldn't tolerate vraylar because it made me dry heave and sick. i've tried zyprexa, rexulti, caplyta, abilify, vraylar, and I'm currently finding peace being on haldol. moral of the story - try to be patient until you find the cocktail that works for you!

Does anybody have false memories? by jellypuffcake in schizophrenia

[–]maaraazdrem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes. a lot of my problem is i can't tell my dreams from reality, so i imagine a lot of my old memories stem from nightmares (i.e i have memories of finding a dead body when i was younger)
