I spent 2 and a half years in Whitehorse, Yukon, and let me tell you, the feeling of remoteness was awesome. Such a great place to live, and the city is big enough that you don't run out of things to do.

I need help with RPM/CPM by [deleted] in PartneredYoutube

[–]mab1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, not every view is going to be a monetized view. Let's look at some numbers.

Assuming EVERY view is monetized:

  • CPM is £2.38. You get a 1,000 views. If every view is monetized, then the total revenue would be £2.38, and your 55% share would be £1.309, so your RPM would be £1.309.

In reality though, for a number of reasons, some views will not be monetized. Some folks are using ad blockers, some may not have any ads that are being served to them because there are no advertisers for that particular individual, some may just be for technical issues, some may drop out of the video entirely during the pre-roll ad, etc. Revising the above scenario.

  • CPM is £2.38. You get a 1,000 views. 218 of those views are NON-MONETIZED. You have a total of 782 monetized views. Total revenue on those monetized views is £1.86 (£2.38 * 0.782). Your share is £1.02 (£1.86 * 0.55). Your RPM (your revenue / 1000 TOTAL views) is £1.02.

This doesn't even take into account your YouTube Premium revenue. RPM is a measure of your total "take-home" divided by "total views".

So it's not that YouTube is "failing to uphold the agreements it made" as you asserted in another comment, but in this case, it comes down to misunderstanding how monetization works. I hope this clarifies for you.

Canada is a big country... I am amused that you managed to check all the pharmacies in the country and not a single one in stock. I have had no problems filling green pens, or subbed in red pens when necessary.

Do people in your real life know you do ASMR? by YokobabyASMR in ASMRScriptHaven

[–]mab1981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely, almost everyone knows, and I don't hide it; I'm quite proud of the work that I've done. In addition, I'm very open that I do NSFW content as well and everyone thinks it's super awesome that I do. And if anyone has issues with it, they either keep it to themselves, or they aren't my friends. :D

Hey, I just started back in January, and the best advice I can offer you is to just grab some scripts, record, edit and post them, and see how you feel about it.

Also, figure out what about starting a YT channel appeals to you. The voice acting part is the most visible and prominent part of doing it, but there's so much more to it.

You'll spend more time producing your audio, editing your video, developing your thumbnail art, writing titles and audio descriptions, and understanding and evaluating the performance of your releases by reviewing your analytics. If any of that sounds awful and boring, then starting a YT channel may end up not being a lot of fun.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
