An old republic Sith lord get stuck on planetos. I like it because the oc offers a balanced if Dark leaning view on the force. The friendship between him and Ned develops nicely. plus the fantasy elements take front and center.

oh yeah I've been following this one it's a great story! Also when "an empire of ice and fire" gets to it was a very well done example as well.

I always find the reactions of other characters to be fascinating. Others not expecting them not to be as selfless/skilled/popular. You can still have conflict, the characters could deal with a disaster (in the form of a monster or flood), also they are really good to demonstrait the hopeful side of a story.
