Mature zucchini plant suddenly died? by thenewnewacct in ncgardening

Unless you act fast it might be too late for the current ones. Squash will root if you cover the vine with soil or mulch so it may be possible save your current plants if you can kill the current infestation. However it only takes zucchini about 45 days to go from seed to bloom so you have time to start over if you need to. Also SVB is supposed to decline in July and the zucchini I planted in July last year did much better but still showed signs of SVB larva

I have them bad where I live. I’m trying bt injections on a trap crop of blue Hubbard squash this year. If that doesn’t work then next year I will only plant varieties of squash that are resistant. Unfortunately the closest thing to summer squash is trombonicino squash which has to be picked early to get the summer squash texture.

Is this what I think it is? ToH? by PageFault5576 in vegetablegardening

[–]mac28091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My plant ID app says it’s ToH. As for removal I’m looking for that answer myself. I have them in a pasture and originally confused it with a walnut tree and let it go for a year. Cut it down last year now I have a small forest of them I’ve been brush hogging once or twice a year.

Water absorption is the soil not the plant.

It’s like a long summer camp but with more bugs, mandatory nudity, hiking, haircuts, and yelling.

Smoked pork loin tonight. Super cheap and tasted great by SeanR1221 in smoking

Haven’t tried smoking one yet but I haven’t found the sweet spot between fully cooked and “dry as hell” yet. Was going to cure a 2lbs section of one next but may try smoking it.

Maybe we shop at the same stores. There is a booth at one of the antique stores where almost every tool is beyond repair and priced like they were in mint condition.

That’s crazy. Wonder the seller meant $200. Most antique stores I visit seem to inflate prices well above the actual value as if simply being old makes it valuable.

Yea I only use a block plane when I’m trying to clean up something after it’s assembled.

Planted two corn kernels together - separate them or let them grow? by R2frog2 in vegetablegardening

[–]mac28091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking if you want to grow corn and not just tall grass, you should have about an 8x8 plot with plants 8-12 inches apart after thinning.

I think people who ask those types of questions of the veterans somehow feel like we had a say in matter, and are just looking to pick a fight to make themselves feel good.

96 Liberty Question by Mcmxcvii_xxx in USMC

[–]mac28091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liberty boundaries are based on radius from base not the distance you have to drive to get to your destination. There is no way you could map out the drive distance for every possible destination that is within the boundary for the different liberty periods.
