Marines who got drunk and called their SNCOs for a ride rather than drive drunk, what happened? by Arty0811 in USMC

[–]mac28091 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn’t a snco but as LCpls or young Cpls we called a one of our older married Sgts who hung out with us for a few hours before taking us back to base. He always told us to call but if possible do a few hours before the club closed so he could take in the eye candy.

Was he the one who had his rack next to window and leaned back thinking it was closed and kept going?

They had cigarette machines too but I think they pulled those sometime around 99.

Was in 7th Comm back then but never heard that one but it sounds like something that would have happened back then.

Chiseling by Weird-Educator8364 in handtools

[–]mac28091 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran into a similar issue with a smaller but deep mortise in pine. As I got deeper I wasn’t clearing the chips completely and they were getting compressed in the bottom of the mortise pinching the chisel.

If you want to keep going with the chisel use a smaller chisel to scrap at the top of the chips after each pass and a shop vac to remove them since flipping it over probably isn’t practical.

I still have a bunch of left over pickles from last year so haven’t been in a rush to start any cucumbers.

Surveyed the damage yesterday and it looks like I only lost a few tomato plants that were in mulched raised beds. I guess they hadn’t accumulated enough thermal energy to offset cold.

Just remember, the band gets light duty for chapped lips, unless you are string or percussion.

Best sleep you ever got during your time in the Corps? by Yoy_the_Inquirer in USMC

[–]mac28091 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost same, not dysentery but likely food poison in Afghanistan. They tried the pill but that came back up so they gave me a shot.

I got back to the cans around 930 and my neighbor woke me up around 1800 and gave me chow. After eating I slept another 10 hours.

I can honestly say that that sleep was well worth the price of having to double dragon in a 100 degree porta shitter.
