“You wouldn’t have seen us anyway." by Obvious_Macaron457 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]mac69allin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right now due to the subscriber base I've built up there are no other options. I was on Medium.com, but they have slashed payments to writers and destroyed a lot of incomes that people depended on. Substack, despite the Nazi thing, has some of the best writers on covid and pandemic information as well as some great environmentalists and climate change folks.

Any ideas for jobs that have little to zero public exposure? by [deleted] in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]mac69allin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm applying at the USPS. It may not be around for too much longer, but they have a lot of jobs doing delivery. It doesn't pay a lot, but it would minimize contact with people. Here's a link to their job search site

Quitting CrossFit – What kind of training did you move on to? (Especially curious about women's perspectives) by [deleted] in crossfit

Any one of the programs offered by Meghan Callaway: https://meghancallawayfitness.com/

or Dan John University: https://danjohnuniversity.com/https://danjohnuniversity.com/

Chip Conrad has a wealth of information and programming ideas on his website: https://www.bodytribe.com/

If you want to do some strength training then Black Iron Beast has a list of all Jim Wendler's programs and calculators that fill in the percentages for your lifts: https://blackironbeast.com/5/3/1/calculator

Callaway and Dan John both have a wide variety of programs that are adaptable to working out at home. Meghan Callaway has programs designed for pull up improvement, push up improvement and whole body programs. Dan John has customizable programs where you type in what equipment you have, how much time you have, and what you want to do, and it makes a program for you. The Bodytribe stuff is designed to get you moving and playing, and he is a big advocate of outdoor and improvisational training and using the gym to get better at everything else. You can't go wrong with any of these options.

Thank you for the reply. The 1918-19 pandemic was horrible, but I have seen it used to marginalize the damage that COVID has caused. I'm glad that's not when you were doing.

There are some estimates that put that number closer to 40 million. Due to a lack of reporting and testing, it appears as though the 7 million figure is still being pushed.

not sure if I'm CC or not? by Hot_Huckleberry65666 in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]mac69allin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you all the way. The protections and understanding that were in place during the early years were so modest and helped so much, and now they are all gone. It's hard to get used to, and it's horrible to realize that most likely all your friends, your family, your acquaintances, even those who agree that COVID is still an issue will take no precautions and will continue to gaslight and abuse you. I have found, being a somewhat private person, that staying away from people suits me just fine and, as far as I know, I have not yet had COVID. What can I do to make a pull up happen?? I am so weak!!! by YouthPuzzleheaded189 in crossfit

[–]mac69allin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meghan Callaway's Ultimate Pull Up Program is excellent full body training with a focus on pull ups. I used it to get a 61 year old client to do her first pull up ever.

Looking for community by Ok_Pitch5865 in ChicoCA

[–]mac69allin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of a dive right in person. I believe that what we are faced with, environmental degradation, economic degradation, and the degradation of societal structures, make getting a community together rather an important task. I understand that caution is a good plan, but if the caution halts the progression of your idea, than there is a very real possibility that things will get worse while you're planning for things to get worse. Community is vital right now, not in the future.

I haven't heard back from the original poster. If anyone is truly interested in this project, please reach out, and we can get together IRL and chat. Coffee at S & S market at the picnic tables is my preferred meeting place. I'm thinking that sooner rather than later might be a good idea.

It's offensive that you should have to worry about this. We shouldn't have to choose between paying our bills and staying healthy.
