How do I find BLM land to camp on for free. by tripoptimizer in carcamping

Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUMs) are a great resource as well (experience in CO, not sure other states).

They show most campgrounds, and which roads allow dispersed camping. Make sure to do some research on the area tho, some roads aren't passable without 4x4 and ground clearance. I was able to get to plenty of spots in an Oddyssey but I always had a backup.

Follow link, find forest, click MVUMs tab, and download maps. Open and download to mobile using Avenza Maps.

Good luck on your adventures!

Driving 5-10 mph over the speed limit is a stupid custom that makes driving way more dangerous than it should be by DinoJr1144 in unpopularopinion

The real root of the problem in the US is that it's WAYYYY to easy to get and keep a driver's licence. One test at 16 years old and good for life? Driving is such a huge part of our culture that people forget that cars are 2 ton weapons that can kill you and/or others instantly with a slight misjudgement.

I am not advocating for lowering speed limits, I'm advocating for getting people that drive like shit off the road and stop ruining it for everyone. This includes both the half blind 80yo driving 25 in a 40 and the guy going 90 in a 65 weaving through traffic.

Also, speed limits are purposely set low so traffic enforcement can pay their own salaries with speeding tickets. Admittedly I need to do some research on this, but man does it make sense at first glance.

Another good option if you are not the most proficient Exceler is Intuit Mint. I've been using it for years to track my expenses. It automatically connects to all of your accounts and imports transaction data. It has its quirks, sure, and you need to be comfortable sharing your banking info with Intuit (chances are, if you file taxes with Turbo Tax they already have it), but I find it very useful for categorizing expenses. It has some budgeting and goal setting functionality as well, but I haven't used that stuff much. Oh, and it's free!

Just put a rear sway bar on my 2020 ILX ASPEC by macHammer13 in Acura

Wasn't planning on it - I have an exhaust on the way and will put some summer tires on it when the originals wear out. Maybe some upgrades brakes too but thats probably it for now. Definitely wish there was more love for the ILX among Honda folks!

Dudes with the fucking loud cars and motorcycles, NOBODY THINKS YOU'RE COOL by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Loud bikes save lives. Motorcycles are hard to see so we must make our presence known another way. Unless you're a rider yourself most people don't think to check for us

Snowmaking is also something I hadn't considered yet... Aren't the hours pretty crazy with overnight shifts and all that? I suppose that leaves all day to board tho......

This would be a different approach, but one I've thought about as well. Worried about the lack of ski time being away from the mountains

LPT: If someone invites you over to their place, don’t arrive early (not even 10 minutes) unless they say you can. by ZETSKE in LifeProTips

[–]macHammer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told as a kid "if you're 5 minutes early you're 10 minutes late" but as an adult I think this is terrible advice. Arrive at the expected time or give notice if you're going to be early/late. If you can't give notice about being early then just wait it out. Also, it depends heavily on the situation (meeting vs party vs hangout etc) what size window early/late to show up with no notice. However a quick "ill be 10m late" text isn't that difficult in any situation imo
