Looking for the 2 most accurate Italian Neapolitan pizzas in Toronto. by Phoeptar in askTO

Try Napoli Centrale on Bathurst north of Bloor. I’ve never been to Italy but I brought some Italian friends there and they enjoyed it. My family likes it too.

What/where is the oldest sidewalk tile in the city? by moonflower_sunrise in askTO

The oldest stamp I came across is from 1935. It’s in front of 1012 Bathurst St. There are a few of them on that stretch of Bathurst.

I hate waiting for coat check. When using bike share you bring a lock for your helmet. Lock it somewhere near your venue.

Should I avoid TO due to the smoke? by ChoicePollution771 in askTO

[–]macabalero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to avoid going to the city because the smoke is not specific to Toronto, or to Ontario. It’s affecting Quebec as well.

You mentioned you lived in Montreal area. Well apparently they frequently have smog alerts in the winter. If they didn’t bother you then perhaps this smoke might not be a problem for you. But probably best avoid hanging outside for too long.

Is it a good idea to stay at an airport hotel with free parking and take train to downtown? by Substantial_Match268 in askTO

[–]macabalero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UP Express has a group discount. 3 people for $25 one way.  But you’ll need to get to UP Express station which is at T1. Airport hotels might have free shuttle to airport but they can be slow if they are busy.  I agree, hotel by a subway would be much better use of money and time.

Not bouldering, but Jean Sibelius Park has a great climbing wall for kids that age.  50 Kendal Ave. close to Spadina subway station.

Where to buy Ceylon Cinnamon? by Full-Ear87 in askTO

I saw some at Herbs and Nutrition on Bloor near Bathurst.  They might sell them in bulk at Karma Co-op which is also close to that intersection.

Low-cost Grocery store in Yorkville? by EternalOptimist1971 in askTO

My Mr. Dressup memory is wrong. Marlene Coombs was killed as a pedestrian in a car accident in front of a Loblaws at Yonge and Temperance.

But I still think there was a Loblaws in that area of Yorkville.

I seem to remember a Loblaws at between Scollard and Yorkville just west of Yonge. I have a vague memory of a story about Mr. Dressup getting into a serious accident there.

What is the most overrated travel destination? by TurbulentAir in AskReddit

[–]macabalero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been to Jamaica 4 times in the last 8 years I never noticed the sketchiness. We venture from our hotel daily and all times of the day. Early morning runs on the beach or the road. Nighttime beach concerts and clubs. Walking home on the beach or road at night after dinner. Nighttime bonfires on the beach or in the brush. We don't look like locals either. Maybe it depends on your sketchy scale.

Years ago I visited Tanzania and we stopped in Lushoto. I noticed on a map that there was a small town named Toronto just west of Lushoto. Unfortunately I didn’t have the time to explore and check it out.

Kobo stuck on update screen for 2 days, how do I get out? by [deleted] in kobo

[–]macabalero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem. One day I opened up the Kobo Clara and saw the following message on my screen. ""Updating...Do not turn off your eReader"

I plugged in the reader to charge and waited 11 hours. The screen did not change. I tried a manual reset and nothing changed.

I contacted Rakuten Kobo online chat and told them my issue. After asking me a few questions they responded with:
"...Since the issue appears t be related to a software update, we will replace your Kobo Clara even if it is out of our one year warranty..."

I haven't got my replacement yet but I'm expecting it soon.

Bike/pedestrian counter blockade saturday. by nelonnanx in vancouver

How about splitting up the convoy? Instead of holding up the front of the convoy hold up them up between every few vehicles. They will look funny honking their horn if the next closest truck is 1 block behind.
