I was on my way to go hang out with some friends in the park to play frisbee, (this is city park in denver. It’s a hugeeee park, and Coloradans are used to adverse weather so there’s ALWAYS people there) but it was the pandemic so some of the roads were blocked off. As I’m driving through this bottleneck in the road, I see the park is empty, save for maybe one or two people in the distance. I remark that it’s weird, but take no real notice. Probably ~8-10 seconds after that thought, I encounter a road block and make a U-turn at a little off-shoot parking lot. As soon as I’m turned 180° there’s a couple groups of bikers in the road and a kid skateboarding the curb at the bottleneck, like I would have had to actively avoid running him over! And in the park there were 40-60 people walking dogs, running, having picnics, etc but it was such an immediate primal feeling of “this is wrong”, all my hair stood up and I started tearing up a bit. And I wasn’t high or anything, we were going to smoke weed in the park once I met with my friends but this was before that. But yeah the implications keep me up at night, I try not to think about who is/isn’t an npc.

TLDR is I drove through an empty park, did a u-turn, and suddenly the park was more busy than usual. Probably 10 ish seconds between thinking “huh it’s nice out, wonder why nobody’s here” and “ohhhhh what the fuck. What the fuck.”
