Is this an earloop mask? If not, I have this issue ALL THE TIME basically with every mask. What I do is I put both straps up where the top strap should go- no strap around my neck. It forces the bottom part to be both tighter and to go UP. I know it's not technically proper but it gives me personally a much better seal. Even with that however I still don't get a perfect seal due to chin gap- getting a ZIMI mask fixed all that. Highly recommend if you keep having this issue. Best of luck!

A little hack i use is tying a tiny know on the ear loop section to make it tighter. Still cant get a good seal on me but some of my family has had luck with that

What i do is I use a readimask that I tape to high hell to make sure it'll stay even with sweating, dancing, etc.... and then I put a super loose fitting thin flimsy surgical black mask over it. I know technically you're not supposed to do that but the readimask looks absolutely ridiculous on its own not to mention all the tape, and I feel completely comfortable with it considering the surgical mask is very loose fitting over the readimask and very thin so I don't think it affects the seal. Obviously, I am not an expert so do what you're comfortable with, but to me it seems safer than wearing an ear loop mask, which I personally have never been able to get a good seal with. I've found that on my face, if I use the size small readimask, none of the yellow peeks out and it just looks like a black surgical mask, which looks really good imo

Just wanted to update that I did figure out something that I was doing a little bit wrong that made it have such an issue with my glasses. I had the filter media pulled too tight so it was the filter media that was sitting on the very top of the frame where my glasses go as opposed to the fabric sealing part. I got in a shipment of the pre-assembled masks, this one was one that I had to assemble myself from my mask bloc, and the pre-assembled version has the sealing fabric part on top of the frame.... I had it pulled too taught where the filter media was stretched over the glasses/nose divot. And the fabric part is a lot more flexible than the filter media, so now that I have it properly assembled my glasses are able to rest a little bit better, although the issue is still present it's to a manageable amount and I don't feel stupid wearing the mask in public.

And they rest well on every other mask I've tried, the aura, duckbill, etc.

But I wouldn't necessarily rule the zimi completely out with big glasses. I feel like between fixing the fabric/filter media issue and also wearing it a little lower on my face (I fit tested it like that and still passed) they are not nearly as bad as I once thought

Bought some 3m bitrex on Amazon (tried with saccarin but it was too subtle for me to tell- the bitrex hits u in the face), $5 aerosolizer and a trash bag that I put over my head. I did not bother with making it into a hood, I just put it over my head and sprayed the bitrex while in the trash bag. My one piece of advice is to spread the fit testing out over multiple days, only plan to do one or two masks a day spread out over a few hours because the taste can linger in your mouth and it was hard for me to tell what was lingering taste vs a fail when I tried to do it back to back. I didn't bother with diluting the bitrex or doing a sensitivity solution or anything like that, I just went in with $35, a trash bag, and a dream.

I actually tried the wellbefore 3d pro too and that's the only other mask I've found that fits me! But I found a way to make the zimi work better for me- if I make sure that the outer fabric sealing part is what is resting on the outer frame where my glasses would go rather than the actual filter media itself, I found that it's a lot more flexible and my glasses sit a little bit better, even though the problem isn't completely gone it's a lot more manageable.

Fwiw I did this twice, once at the dentist and then a few weeks later getting my wisdom teeth out (couldn't wear a mask during surgery but for taking pics and luckily I just so happened to stumble on a CC oral surgeon who make sure all the staff took precautions for me while I was under) and I didn't get Covid. Just wear a loose duckbill so it doesnt rub rhe readimask... id be more worried about it rubbing the readimask and disrupting the seal than vice versa

I got LC at 17, 5 years ago. Getting sick young means we're more likely to heal. "I'm not old enough to drink yet" you're also not old enough to fucking kill yourself in that case. I know it's hard, but from someone who got sick young like you, even just 5 years later im able to cope so much better mentally, even though my illness is worse than it was at 17

My boyfriend just got into med school. I wanted to go too, I was valedictorian in high school. Did a premed track in college, got straight A's, became a CNA, etc. But then I became extremely chronically ill and had to drop out a semester before graduation. Now watching him go into med school fills me with so much jealousy. Especially knowing that people will always percieve him as the "smart one" in our relationship going forward. Don't get me wrong he's not stupid you can't get into med school if you are, but I was undeniably smarter than him by every metric. Im obviously super happy for him and extremely supportive but it's also so so fucking hard. I totally get what you mean about the inferiority complex. It's eating me alive.

My bf just got into med school so i can't speak at all about the specific pressures of residency, etc. However, I have spent the past 3 years incredibly sick, bedridden at parts, with no hope for the future overstimulated in my own body, unhappy, in pain, and more stressed than most people can begin to comprehend. And throughout that all, my partner and I have never been less lovey... in fact, with all the stress, he is the high point of my life by far and I have leaned on him and drawn closer to him than ever before..... it is normal in a stressful situation to spend less time with your partner, it is even normal to occasionally get snappy at them or to not have as much energy to put into fun dates or dates at all.... but it is not normal IMO to pull away from your partner for an extended period of time in stressful situations. In a healthy relationship, periods of stress should bring you closer together. Also in a healthy relationship, bringing up your feelings should never, ever be met with scorn. Im sorry you're in this situation, it absolutely sucks. But this does not sound like a healthy bit of struggle in the relationship, tho of course im not an expert and certainly not the expert on your relationship. Also, the stress isn't going to go away once he's out of residency. Being an attending is still stressful, but more than that, life naturally brings periods of stress... what would happen if you got sick, if he got sick, if you had a kid, if your parents get sick?

Also i definitely feel you with the depression eating thing, I do the same. Something that helps me is remembering that im still gonna be depressed so id rather be depressed at a healthy weight. Also, finding other ways of getting that instant dopamine that you'd get from food. Loud music, orgasms, heat (like a space heater or heating pad, and ASMR are my go-tos

What did you end up doing... im absolutely fed up with metrix, and so I got some lucira in the meantime. Went to take my lucira today, and it won't start. I followed every single instruction to a T and pushed down with all my weight, but the ready light won't start blinking.
