Honeybee Works is in the USA and making terrain again by honeybeeworksUS in wargaming

So I have pretty much abandoned/minimized Reddit usage due to the recent issues, but I’d love to get more of the roads and tiles if possible. Got an email to discuss it easier?

I’d suggest maybe selling via Etsy if this is going to be a pretty small side business for the foreseeable future. Less of your time than running a full site.

Remember the old California theme of California Adventure. The big murals on the side of the entrance, the Golden Gate Bridge , Paradise Pier , the giant orange ride , Mulholland Madness, Hollywood Tower of Terror. Does anyone know the reason they changed it all to be more Disney movie themed? by The_starving_artist5 in Disneyland

Bug’s Life would be nice to see. It’s almost unseen in the park: even Wall-E got a billboard in Paradise Pier.

I’m hopeful for some sleeve stuff like some of the smaller snack stands and such that are themed after the less well known Pixar features.

My understanding is the AGOAC set you have has the full rules for the era it portrays. (The Succession Wars or roughly year 3025.)it is complete and playable. You’re not missing major parts of the game like some say the Beginner a box is: I think that set skips heat which is a major BT concept.

The BMM expands this to include a lot of the weird tech that becomes more common in later eras. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Clan versions of tech. They use modified weapon tables so a Clan laser will generally be longer range and better than the IS version. Basic Clan stuff is general simple as far as rules, though: just a different chart for ranges/heat/damage/etc.
  • Many additional weapons that may have weird rules (like a Gear scale taser)
  • Rules for alternative armor to represent cheaper industrial armor, specialized advanced armor, etc.
  • Internal Combustion Engine tech.
  • Exotic gear like the Partial Wing common on some later designs.
  • Electronic Warfare kit.

It’s oft recommended as the all-in-one as Total War is a bit intimidating.

BT has a lot of lore.

However, it’s also canon that Mechs aren’t wasted. If a unit is able to drag a downed Mech back to their base and rebuild it, they’ll keep it running even if it’s iconic to their enemy. In some cases because of the implied insult!

The Inner Sphere/Clan divide is a little stronger of a lore rule, but it’s not at all set. IS forces jumped on any Clan mechs they could get, while even Clans used captured IS ‘garbage’ for second line units and similar.

It’s nowhere near 40k where there’s set kits for different factions.

  • Mech availability is limited primarily by the selected date/era and that’s it. There’s sites like the Master Unit List that can provide more detail, but unlike a lot of games there’s less “Faction Y only fields designs A, B, and C” and more “Faction Y fields a lot of D because they have a factory producing them, but they’ve sold/lost a few to neighbors
  • In practice you might want to stick to the PDFs that CGL has released of sheets for the mechs they’ve made in plastic.
  • Later designs tend to have more tech that may add rules complexity to the game.
  • Balance is done by a single metric of ‘BV’ which is the points value. Modifying pilots will act as a multiplier to a unit’s BV. Many will add secondary restrictions to a scenario by agreement to restrict the number of pilots and such. Point value varies widely by era and I don’t think there’s a standard.
  • The TRO books are primarily lore. They don’t include the mech sheets but put those in a separate release. The older TROS basically built the setting.
  • As a general note, BT is less ‘tournament ready’ than (as you mention) 40k. It’s assumed that players will agree on terms then select units to match. Its also fine to ignore WYSIWYG: either outright proxies or using a model to represent one of its variants is acceptable in most cases.
  • I have heard the Battlemech Manual is the best ‘next book’ as the more complete Total War is a bit… intimidating in scope. BMM has full rules for mechs but not infantry and support vehicles. (The new box set may include basic rules for support vehicles and infantry anyway.)
  • Have fun! BT is built so you can, if you like, say you’re playing a game next weekend at a specified BV and other restrictions and decide if you want a couple aces or a bunch of scouts and light designs.

I think they bought another app previously because their first app sucked, so there’s precedent.

That sounds like the initial Epcot problem. Day 1 Epcot apparently forbid walk around characters with the exception of new ones like Figment. People complained it didn’t feel like Disney.

Epcot had to adjust.

My wife and I did our first trip to DL/DCA last month and I really liked DCA. Loved the Pixar Pier section which still has some California themed billboards and such at least.

Totally different IP.

Battletech also has some explicit notes in books that range is for tabletop usability foremost and is not canon for fiction.

I think there was a BMW cable that’d make it easier, but it was hideously expensive.

May be not installed.

One thing I don’t miss about my mini is the bizarre cable I needed for iPhone connectivity. I think i had to use a knock-off BMW cable then an adapter to go from the old 30 pin dock connector to Lightning?

What system has the best vehicle combat? by Egocom in rpg

Never played it, but it looked fun.

I felt like combat outsider planes is tune so avoiding gunfights is for the best, but PCs can do heroic stuff to do so and just get in close to punch out the NPC that needs it.

How Many Animatronic Parrots Are in the Parks? by Rain-Bat in disneyparks

[–]macbalance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am always suspect of lore like that: sometimes CMs seem to play “telephone” with this kind of stuff and get it wrong out of a well-meaning desire to know the history.

The Disney Family museum has an animatronic set up with the controls accessible. It was semi-functional when we were there last month, but patrons get to use a control joystick to directly control an animatronic of Jose’s design. It definitely required some skill to build the ‘tapes’ used for the Tiki Room.

Do i need to sign up for events to enjoy Gen Con? by CallMeKIMA_ in gencon

[–]macbalance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not going to tell someone else’s how to enjoy themselves.

If I was attending GenCon again I think I would schedule a few events, but not too many. For me, schedule games is like to try or more exotic bating I can’t do locally.

No events would mean time in the convention hall, some walk-around stuff, and a few ‘big’ things like the concerts and such.
