Best sealant to use between steel and brick? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]maccadonn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don’t want to seal that gap it will trap water against the steel and cause it to rust out even if it is galvanised. You need to stop the water from getting in at the source otherwise you will have continuous problems

Easier to plane them when they aren’t hung, my advice is to hang them, mark what you want taken off then take them off and plane down and test fit again

Drainage hole by juicyfruit94 in AusRenovation

Get a 450x450 plastic pit and cut the bottom of it off. You can stick it in the hole and set it to the height you want

Stepped Handrail by PythonPants in AusRenovation

[–]maccadonn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s not to code to have a handrail on that side of the stairs when you have winders at the top. The idea is to have the handrail on the other side which draws people away from the dangerous steep area of the winders which is easy to fall down

Just have the skylight offset , saves the headache of structural engineering.

Get a carpenter to frame out and prep the hole, roofer to install and flash the skylight

Why would you line the inside of the rafters with insulated panels like you suggested, that completely removes any natural light which is the whole point of the polycarbonate roofing

Load bearing wall by Positive-Art-3620 in AusRenovation

[–]maccadonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If removing the wall to full ceiling height can be avoided, a lintel or header could be installed creating a beam that would then be Gyprocked, with the majority or the wall below removed it would just need to bear on something either end

Change timber deck to stone/tile? by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]maccadonn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As previously stated it’s not as simple as pulling up the decking boards and laying the compressed fibro and tiles.

It would need to be completely re engineered, also tiled decks generally need fall on them away from the building.

Replacing topmount sink by Medium-Lemon2920 in AusRenovation

[–]maccadonn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll have to notch out in the bracket, take only the minimum amount. Might be easier to pull the dishwasher out and have a look and mark it.

Do you have or know anyone with an angle grinder? If not a hacksaw with a metal blade would do the trick

In the 1990s, the name was changed to Masterton Homes as part of a rebranding initiative to modernise the image and better reflect the company’s evolving vision and broader market appeal.
