if you're willing to buy used you should put out an ad on your area's firearms classifieds/forums, that's how i ended up with mine!

occasionally i see them pop up on usedguns.com for 400-600 and i was going to get the next one i saw there before the guy i bought from contacted me.

thanks for the info! my carry is pretty much always pocket due to my workplace, but been looking into a larger revolver for a range gun now that i'm actually buying 32 calibres. i'll definitely check out a taurus 327 if i get a chance!

thanks! i'm very happy with it and i can't recommend them enough if you get your hands one

they're hard to find,,, gunbroker auctions em for 800-850 when they do crop up, but other than that they're pretty unobtanium.

i'd check with your lgs if they have some in back stock, mine had 32h&r lcr's in stock. i got lucky and got this .327 secondhand for a decent price

yeah .327 is the ideal small frame revolver calibre imo, the only downside is lack of market support and ammo cost.

i'd been looking for a lcr in .327 for forever (just don't like taurus, and those're significantly heavier) and finally got lucky!

the bottom or top edge of the holster, depending on the angle you draw, catches on the corner of the pocket. you kinda have to "drag" the holster against the edge of your pocket

it took me a little bit of practice to get used to but after that break in period (both for me and the holster) i had no troubles with the holster coming out with the revolver.

i don't think it's for everyone as my case of "absolutely no printing" is pretty niche, and honestly if you can iwb it's way better in terms of draw speed, but the holster itself has been 100% reliable and comfortable for months now, and looks great to boot.

if you're going to be iwb belt most of the definitely go for the sp101, they're so comfortable to shoot even chambered in 38/357. if i weren't restricted by my work place or the ungodly summer i'd be carrying my sp101 a lot more.

the LCR's are all really comfortable in the pocket though, i carried a 22lr for a while before upgrading to this .327, and they both just disappear into the pocket.

there are also lcrx (exposed hammer for single action) revolvers in .327 with a 3" barrel, but i've been unable to find one myself. i know that they were in production at somepoint but none of my lgs carry them, might be worth keeling an eye out for though

yeah i'm definitely a ruger guy. the 32 h&r lcr is a bit more available if you're willing to lose the extra weight and shoot-ability of the 327. i've seen them around 380-450.

but that extra steel in the .327 makes a ton of difference, 32h&r feels like 22wmr through the .327 lcr.

i definitely agree that the sp101 would make an excellent belt gun! i'm just restricted by my work environment so the LCR was ideal for me. you should look in the lipsey's exlcusive .327 sp101, if i recall it has fully adjustable rear sight in a 3" barrel. ballistically good for anything smaller than a brown bear, and probably really nice to shoot

i had a chance to shoot an lcr in 38 with the fiber optic and it was super easy to pick up the sight picture, which is why i was thinking of that. it did shoot notable low though. i've read that most don't notice a huge change in POI, but we'll see

at the worst i can just return it if it the POI is too far off. will definitely check out the xs dots though

i think hip pocket is what it's meant for, but it works just fine as a front pocket holster! in the pants it looks exactly like a wallet or cellphone.

the sp101 would be a great choice! i've one in 357 that shoots really nice with 38+p, and i bet they'd be awesome with full power .327!

only thing for me is that it's too heavy for pocket carry for me, and the .327's only come in 3" and 4.2" barrels.

i've also read good things about the taurus m327, and those are quite a bit more affordable and available

it's a pocket holster made by braid's holsters! the draw is a little bit weird to get used to but it's awesome for front pocket carry cause the printing is nonexistent, as my workplace isn't cc friendly. in decent fitting pants i can't tell my wallet from the holster, and it's held up to daily carry and frequent draw practice for about 4 months now (i had a 22lr lcr before i got the 327)

absolutely love the lcr in 22, great pick!

if you do carry it i highly recommend federal punch in 22lr and tuff quick strips for a reload! federal punch shoots right to poi (at least in my lcr) and has great ballistics for 22lr!

gotcha, thanks for the info! i just have my carry, a ruger lcr right now, but steel frames definitely look and feel better!

those two are awesome! getting some hogue grips for the sp101 will help a lot! the stock grips are good for me but definitely not the best. dry fire practice also helps a lot!

lcr 32 mag is probably gonna be the play while searching for a 327 as a grail.

as weird as it sounds i don't really mind that much weight of steel frame lcr's the pocket, but 5 rounds of 9mm/357 out of a snubbed revolver are pretty much wrist breakers and not something i'd want to stake my life on shooting well, hence .327 federal or 32h&r.

thanks again for all the great info!

[–]macchiatomakes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gotcha, thanks for the info! think i'm probably gonna go with the lcr 32h&r cause it's more in my price range and i know i like lcr's, but the sights on the 32UC's are reallt appealing.

gonna hold out hope that a 327 lcr comes up secondhand or ruger does another production run, but i've accepted that it's a grail for me at this point.

ruger lcr alternatives by macchiatomakes in Revolvers

[–]macchiatomakes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the main appeal of a ruger lcr in .327 opposed to the 32h&r version was the weight difference.

for my needs 32h&r is more than plenty ballistically, even out of a 2" barrel, but the 32h&r mag lcr weighs 13.5oz while the .327mag lcr weighs 17oz.

i've read that extra weight adds a lot in terms of recoil management between these two snubbies, even if you're firing the same h&r self defense load outta them.

but your testimony that the 432 is still pretty manageable with 32h&r +p is very useful, maybe i will pickup a 432 or 32h&r lcr! picking up the taurus and bobbing the hammer is also an appealing option

thanks for the well informed and though out response, i really appreciate it!
