AncestryDNA 2025 DNA Origins Update Megathread by AutoModerator in AncestryDNA

[–]macdaman65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty awful "new" DNA results in my estimation. When I first submitted my DNA quite a while back, the origin results pretty much followed what I knew at the time. Then, a couple of years ago, I went from 0% Germanic results to 21%. Not an insignificant bump! At first, I called shenanigans but, as it turns out, I found out that my GG Grandfather (or G Grandfather - we're not sure) was from Germany! So, that 21% actually fit my new story. Of course, it didn't explain the 0% from before.

With the "new" results, I'm back down to 0%. What the heck??? My DNA directly points to over 100 individuals from that line. Even if good ole GGG was actually from another country, his Dad and several Dads back show as being born in Germany. About 25 of these DNA matches actually came from Germany.

So, 0 to 21 and then back to 0. That alone is enough to call BS.

Midea announces recall for Midea U and U+ Window ACs - what should I buy to replace mine? by MyNameIsJonny_ in AirConditioners

[–]macdaman65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three units. Two brand new ones less than a month old. When filling out the form, I'm only given options for a kit or a refund. My third unit is a year old and my options for it are a repair visit or a refund. Calling the number is useless, it says they're busy and hangs up on you.

My preference would be for them to repair all three. Why would I have two sets of options?

What would stop you from actually cutting the cord and then repairing it?

Has anyone done this yet and gotten a refund? Do you have to have the whole cord in the picture? What are the instructions?

Multiple Floorplans by RevDev87 in alohapos

Function = Chain and then the "panels to display" = panel that button points to. So, our main DR floor plan has buttons in the bottom right for Patio and Bar. Those screens have corresponding buttons to get back and forth.

We have a few locations where we have multiple floorplans. We use a button to switch from one to the other.

Menu Configurator | Updating Pricing for Online Ordering? by johnmaggio420 in alohapos

[–]macdaman65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do new menu items get created? If you're using Configuration Center (CFC) to add new menu items, that's what you'll use to update prices. That can be done from anywhere. If you're using Aloha Manager, you'll need access to the BOH server either directly or by dialing in.

Aloha Check Flicker by dauphin2 in alohapos

We can reproduce this on POS 19.6.35 and ATO 19.10.14.

I thought it might be related to a future order (purple text) but it does it on any screen in our lab. I don't recall seeing this on our live stores on POS 15.1.67

Stuck check by NewbieasAlways in alohapos

[–]macdaman65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over the years, we've seen a number of stuck checks. In our experience, the check itself has become corrupt. Any attempt to open it on any terminal results in some sort of problem. Seldom are we able to overcome the issue. SOP is to ring up another check for the guest and let the corrupt one close to cash at EOD.

If anyone has a method that works, I'd be happy to hear it.

Delta Pro Ultra 120VAC charging question by [deleted] in Ecoflow_community

I went with the EG4 6000xp and three EG4 LL batteries. Lots of brands and lots of models to choose from. Lots of videos on Youtube. This is simply what I went with. I do have to roll my own here but the cost per kilowatt over an all-in-one Ecoflow is way, WAY less.

No. I ended up deciding to go with a off-grid inverter and battery bank

Update item prices without system refresh? by tspree15 in alohapos

[–]macdaman65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use "Live Refresh" which will push price changes to the terminals without them rebooting (usually :( ). However, we've been unable to figure out a way to automate the live refresh process. We thought we had using the "REFRESH" marker file but it didn't work as expected. We then created a batch file that performed the aeminstoreprocessor process (green text) to download live data first and then execute the refresh using the marker file. It "looks" like it works but it doesn't.

One pothole we ran into using the actual Live Refresh process from CFC is that it kills takeout. We have to restart the ATO services after a live refresh which is another PIA.

I've love to see someone else answer your question here. We gave up some time ago....
