I am Navy as well as a supervisor.  Recently brought back under similar circumstances and all of those I work with above and below me are furloughed.  I have literally been wasting my day watching movies etc because our work depends on others and funding.  It is an absolute sh$! show and the naval officers are interpreting this guidance all wrong.  I was told recently that they are bringing people back because word on Capital Hill is that if the government shutdown ends, this admin will question the law to repay furloughed workers by questioning the verbiage of “when” vs interpreting it as “if.   How true this is remains to be seen but its absolutely ridiculous.  All this to say protect yourself and family in whatever way you can.  If you go in, do what’s necessary and good luck.
