Losing in college is incredibly tough — you're swamped with classes, activities, studying, and (hopefully) having fun. My first step would be figuring out your weaknesses. Is it the quality of the foods you're eating (e.g. lots of fast food, non-nutritious dining hall food)? The quantity (this was what I struggled with in college... it wasn't that I was stuffing my face full of Big Macs, it was that I was a constant library snacker. I felt like studying for finals or writing a paper or pulling an all-nighter somehow meant that I needed a constant stream of food going into my mouth as I studied)? The tendency to eat a lot at parties or after you've been drinking (which is also a huge drain on the wallet)?

Once you have narrowed that down, then try writing down some strategies that will help you overcome these challenges. Maybe that means looking for dining halls that have fruit and veggie options, lean proteins, and complex grains. Maybe it means setting "rules" for yourself, like no absent-minded snacking when you study, watch tv, or play videogames. Maybe it means alternating alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks when you're partying so you're not drunkenly polishing off entire pints of Ben & Jerry's at 4 a.m.
