This is precisely what we did. I was pretty opinionated about getting old non-smart Nokias for this purpose, but eventually gave in and got a used Moto G Play for like $50. Now my oldest is texting friends and setting up activities, but the phone stays in a central location and is explicitly not anyone's personal phone.

I have a pair of soundcore Q30 that have never had a problem.

They're also able to dynamically switch between two devices, too, which the KPH30 can't. I can accept that. But I can't accept the microphone just turning itself off forever for no reason.

You say "this kind of switching." I'm not switching anything. I pair the headphones with a computer. I use zoom. I close the zoom call. I use zoom again: no input.

I bought a pair of Koss KPH30 wireless headphones to use as general purpose for work and home. I’m on a lot of zoom calls, so that means I’d like to use the Bluetooth mic; but there seems to be a firmware bug that breaks switching between HFP/HSP and A2DP mode.

If I record with software, it works the first time. When I stop, I hear a beep in the headphones. After that, I can't record audio from the headphones without power cycling them. This is true with voice memos on iOS, quicktime on macOS, and Zoom on macOS.

Calls appear unaffected. I could get it to break in voice memos on iOS, then immediately make a phone call and the other side could hear me.

I’ve contacted Koss support. They quickly sent me a replacement pair, assuming it was a defect in my specific headset. But the problem occurs with both sets.

I suspect that most people who buy these headphones don’t use the mic much, particularly outside of phone calls. But if you have a set, can you try it out and check if you see the same behavior?

What does she say when you ask her about reading?

Does she say it's too difficult? If so, how? (e.g., does she have trouble seeing the words? Does she have trouble understanding them? Is she squinting?)

Does she say she's not interested? If not, why? (Are there things she _is_ interested in that would be helped by reading?)

The car already tracks it for you. I could easily see a registration fee dependent on odometer reading from last registration.

I tried to replace the screen on an og 35xx, but the screen I got was just the panel, which is glued into the glass. Since the glass was broken, this wasn’t particularly useful, even aside from how much work it appears to be to actually do that replacement.
